Overview

We are seeking a full-time Cloudflare Architect in our Cary, NC location. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership in project execution and architecture of Edge Compute and CDN solutions.
Essential Functions
Lead complex multi-system projects and drive collaboration with other teams/departments which enables key business capabilitiesProvide technical input to solution development plans and concept documentsDefine, document and communicate technical strategies for the evolution of Edge Compute and CDN solutionsInfluence CDN and Edge Compute roadmaps and support/enforce adherence to technical roadmaps and technical standards through interacting/collaborating with application teams/product ownersLead advanced technical research on new technologies and determine feasibility of team or functional goals/objectivesDrive business value through innovation and architect new CDN and Edge Compute solutionsIdentify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions to address those opportunities (ex. architectural, performance, maintainability, security, scalability, reusability, etc.)Translate, negotiate, and communicate complex architectural and development concepts across application teams and key stakeholders to meet both architectural and business objectivesExercise significant degree of leadership to projects and programs which contribute directly to organizational objectivesProvide technical support during major incidents during the business day, as well as off-hours as part of an on-call rotation or escalationServe as a leader of changeDemonstrate broad and global understanding of Garmin's business model including Engineering, Operations, Finance, Sales & Marketing, Human Resources, etc.Demonstrate professional maturity through giving/receiving constructive feedbackAddress conflicts effectively without appreciable oversightExemplify Garmin's Mission, Vision and Values and proactively works to improve Garmin's image and cultureWork with Directors, Managers, Product Owners, and Project Managers to determine system wide design impactsRegularly partner with Garmin IT Architects to define and align on enterprise wide strategiesAssist in validating/communicating Level of Effort estimates for upcoming projectsAttend or participate in applicable professional organizations to bring outside knowledge to GarminServe as mentor to less experienced team members (Levels 1, 2 & 3) Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related field AND a minimum of 9 years relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experienceMinimum of 5 years hands-on experience with CDN managementAdvanced IP (Internet) networking and systems knowledgeKnowledge of BGP and AnycastStrong understanding of protocols like DNS, TCP, TLS and HTTPExperience with global Traffic ManagementSolid DevOps skillsMust possess excellent leadership skills and the ability to generate and support pragmatic solutions that meet Garmin's market launch requirements, while maintaining high quality standardsMust be positive, detail/quality oriented, organized, proactive, team oriented, a multi-tasker, and analytical with the ability to prioritize and work effectively in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment with minimal supervisionDemonstrated experience in successful implementation of technology solutionsDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a large team or departmental settingDesired Qualifications
Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)Experience with Apache Traffic ServerExperience with Citrix NetScaler, HA ProxyExperience with CloudFlare technologiesWeb Software Engineering Experience including web development and database knowledge
