The Office operates the FAA's hotlines and tracks responses to all hotline reports.

Duties The Director, Office of Office of Audit and Evaluation, is an Executive leader with investigative experience and knowledge of or experience in aviation. The Office is the FAA focal point for public and employee safety complaints, reports of fraud, waste, and abuse, internal FAA rule or policy violations and whistleblower protection. Audits and reviews under the ambit of the Director include: Department of Transportation, Office of the Inspector General audits, Government Accountability Office audits, Office of Special Counsel audits and investigations, the Safety Hotline, the Whistleblower Hotline, the Administrator's Hotline, the Public Inquiry Hotline and any other inquiries as the Administrator directs. In the execution of the duties and responsibilities of the position, the Director oversees a budget of approximately $5.4M and provides Executive leadership and direction over a workforce of approximately 20 employees to include eight (8) senior employees.
Specifically, the Director, Audit and Evaluation:
Formulates and articulates the strategic vision for the organization ensuring alignment with the Public Law that established the position, Department of Transportation and FAA strategic initiatives.Serves as the principal FAA reviewing authority on safety-related disclosures and certain other audits and evaluations.Manages the Safety Hotline, the Whistleblower Hotline, the Administrator's Hotline and the FAA Hotline Program; directs inquiries to the appropriate organization and reviews responses for timeliness and responsiveness.Investigates allegations of whistleblower retaliation by FAA employees that have been delegated by the Office of Investigations and Professional Responsibility, the Inspector General of the Department of Transportation, or the Office of Special Counsel.Builds, maintains and manages and intervention staff trained in helping managers resolve workplace conflicts.Coordinates and independently evaluates the quality of certain investigations.Develops and submits the FAA Annual Report to Congress summarizing the work the office initiated regarding critical aviation safety activities.Directs office operations to continually improve core processes, levels of service and responsiveness.Represents the FAA on safety-related whistleblower disclosures and whistleblower retaliation and audits and investigations to Congress, the General Accountability Office, the Office of Special Counsel and the Department of Transportation, Office of Inspector General.Promotes, supports, and participates actively in the FAA Equal Opportunity Program and helps identify and resolve EEO issues or complaints.

Qualifications
As a basic requirement for entry into the FAA Executive System, you must provide evidence of progressively responsible leadership experience that is indicative of senior executive level management capability; and is directly related to the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined under the Leadership and Technical Requirements listed below.
Leadership Requirements
1. Do you have experience in achieving operational results? If so, provide examples of ways you have exercised leadership to deliver significant results. 2. Do you have experience leading people? If yes, describe the size of the organization and number and types of positions you have managed. Describe ways that you have mentored and developed employees and built individual and team performance. Discuss how you have established and led teams to deliver products and services. Include in your description experience in leading others in a matrix environment across organizations.
3. Do you have experience building relationships? If yes, describe (1) the types of individuals with whom you routinely collaborate; and (2) the purpose and outcomes of the communication. Discuss your experience in communicating and cooperating with others to achieve goals. Provide examples of how you have built relationships to achieve consensus and how you were able to obtain the cooperation of others with competing priorities and perspectives. Describe how you effectively communicate information within and outside of your organization.
4. Do you have experience leading strategic change? If yes, describe examples of strategic changes that you led for your organization; describe the entities that the change affected (agency, industry, organizational components). Discuss obstacles you encountered and how you overcame them to the benefit of the agency. Include in your description ways that you applied long-range vision, developed strategies, and applied innovative ideas and techniques.
Technical Requirements
1. Experience overseeing and setting the strategic direction for an organization's investigations, audits and/or evaluations that promote compliance with transportation-related safety requirements.
