Duties
At the Full-Performance level, the duties for this be: Consults and advises District professionals to ensure feature and special requirements for design and construction are considered and included in the contract. Guides these professionals to the most appropriate surveying and cartographic mapping plan. Investigates the qualifications and abilities of firms being considered for contracts. Applies knowledge of Government contract administration procedures combined with technical knowledge of surveying and cartographic mapping. Monitors and inspects contractor work for compliance with contract provisions and specifications, and to resolve most contract issues. Performs office and fieldwork to coordinate and schedule the activities of the party to meet specifications and requirements. Arranges for equipment, housing, and transportation of personnel to the work site.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Must obtain and maintain a valid state issued driver's license. Requires lifting and carrying 50 lbs over short distances and across uneven terrain. Requires the wearing of protective equipment and/or clothing (e.g., PFD, hard hat, coveralls, gloves, safety footwear) as appropriate. Requires work involving working on and near the water, on boats, and floating plant, and will include occasional field visits to heavy construction sites. May involve exposure to environmental hazards, chemicals, bacteria, toxic particulates, machinery, adverse weather, construction noise, irregular terrain and other conditions typically associated with construction sites.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A GS-07:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisted with Land Surveying, Geodetic surveying, Structural Deformation Surveying, Topographic Surveying and Computer Aided Drafting (CAD). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as surveying, engineering, construction, or industrial technology.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A GS-08:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes methods, techniques and principles and performing Land Surveying, Geodetic surveying, Structural Deformation Surveying, Topographic Surveying and Computer Aided Drafting (CAD); using Trimble R7 and R8 GPS Units, Trimble TSC 2 and 3 Data Collectors; also using Carlson Survey Software with Autodesk Civil3d & Trimble Business Center software; work with Leica series total stations and data collectors. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as surveying, engineering, construction, or industrial technology.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.
