Job Summary:
The Director of Global Commodity Management (GCM) will be responsible for the development of a Best in Class Global Supply network that supports Generac's business strategies and provides a competitive advantage in the market place. Working cross-functionally, the Director of GCM owns the development and execution of sourcing strategies that produce tangible value through the implementation of process and projects that yield a reduced total cost of material acquisition, revenue and gross margin improvement, supply base alignment, enhanced product quality, and overall reduction of risk.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work cross-functionally with business leaders to develop understanding of business needs and opportunities that will define the Global Commodity Strategy.
• Achieve annual organizational objectives through cost reduction, cost avoidance, revenue and margin improvement, and risk mitigation.
• Lead Supplier Selection Process which includes implementation of process and documented competitive assessments.
• Build and maintain Supplier Relationship Management structure that fosters robust supplier relationships.
• Evaluate current and new suppliers to improve levels of service and to develop or establish sources of supply.
• Champion supplier measurement, development, and quarterly business reviews process.
• Develop transparent communication of organizational performance through reviews, dashboards, and metric.
• Negotiate Contracts and Agreements with suppliers to obtain annual value creation and maximize the value for each dollar of expenditure.
• Solicit, analyze and evaluate prices and tenders from suppliers through preparation of total cost of acquisition analysis.
• Participate in cross-functional teams for design relative to cost initiatives. Realize supplier selection with alignment to Category Strategy.
• Maintain best in class approach by analyzing global and regional market trends and best practices.
• Create collaborative supplier partnerships to maintain conformance to corporate requirements and improve supplier partnership.
• Support Operational execution and GDP process.
• Ensure that all procurement is in compliance with all applicable regulations and laws related to procurement practices and in accordance with standard practices.
• Execute full range of leadership responsibilities including performance management, employee development, recruiting, budget management, and strategic planning.
• Strong understanding of workflows associated with material acquisition and product realization process.
Minimal Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related Business degree, in lieu of degree 8 years of related experience in Supply Chain;
• 7+ years successful leadership experience with direct and indirect reports globally in a strategic procurement leadership role in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• MBA;
• Previous proven success in developing scalable processes that accelerate the integration of acquired companies;
• Global Procurement experience in low cost country sourcing;
• Thorough understanding of supply solutions that optimize business investment costs;
• Strong interpersonal, conflict resolution and negotiation skills;
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills with capability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Ability to identify market and supply risks / liabilities and develop contingency plans;
• ERP knowledge and experience e.g. SAP, Oracle, JDE;
• Global travel to manufacturing and supplier sites required (30 - 40%);
Physical demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Travel 30-40%.
