Job Description:

Independently operate, maintain, modify, troubleshoot and repair Waste Water Treatment Plants and Water Distribution Systems, and the mechanical equipment associated with sewage collection and processing systems.
Start and stop pumps, motors, engines, etc. to control and regulate the flow of sewage through the processing phases.
Monitor and control the physical and chemical characteristic of the water and waste being treated so that potable water or W/W plant effluents meet the standards for quality established by Federal, State and local health authorities.
Calibrate W/W plant instrumentation and systems controls using electronic, mechanical, chemical and electrical test equipment.
Operate engines and equipment that drive water pumps, as required. Assist in the maintenance, repair and adjustment of plumbing systems, such as water, drain lines, sprinkler systems, etc.
Assist in the rebuilding, modifying and testing of plumbing systems. Perform any work assigned to the employees in the classification.
Monitors and maintains proper observation of all wastewater plant processes, equipment and controls to ensure efficient operation of the Regional and Trident plants.
Work involves performing preventive maintenance and repair work on tanks, pumps, motors and other equipment; and maintaining records of work performed and supplies consumed.
Monitors gauges, meters, control panels, and process variables, making changes as determined by flow, controls, instrumentation analysis, calculations, and visual observations; checks filters, chlorinators and chemical feed discharges; reads meters, gauges and dials, observes variations in operating conditions, interprets meter and gauge readings, and maintains reports.
Tests potable water samples to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws, ordinances and regulations for water pot ability.
Operations and Maintenance of CCAFS Water System, including Pump Stations and chemical feed operation.
Process and/or deliver demineralized water. Monitor and maintain Lift Stations to ensure efficient operation.
Work with verbal information, blueprints, maps, schematics, technical publications, instruction bulletins and applicable National, State and municipal specifications, codes and ordinances.
Provide and operate sewer vacuum truck for customers.
Inspect, maintain or repair special tools, jigs, fittings and instruments assigned. Maintain logs, records, charts, etc., as required.
Maintain certifications, licenses, permits, etc., required for performance of assigned tasks. Perform work in other classifications when incidental, but necessary to accomplish work assignments.
Performs work in compliance with Federal, State, local, NASA and Air Force laws and regulations and requirements and energy management conservation regulations, security, safety, hurricane readiness, and other specialized programs or contractual requirements relating to the business of the section, working within the limits of established policy.
Will be required to perform duties associated with preparation, ride-out and recovery activities during natural disasters to include hurricanes. This classification may include managing hazardous materials or other environmental responsibilities.

Work Environment: Field work required.

Physical Demands: Walking, standing & sitting, lifting up to 50 lbs unassisted. Climbing/working on ladders >6'. Prolonged standing. Climbing stairs.

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent.
Trade School and/or Military Training.
Three (3) or more years' experience in industrial/commercial water/waste water systems.
Minimum Florida Level C Wastewater treatment required.
Minimum Florida Level C Water license or must be able to obtain within 2 years.
Must be computer literate and proficient with MS Office applications.
Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) experience desired.
Must possess a current security clearance or be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance. US Citizenship is required for obtaining a security clearance.
Minimum State of Florida Class B CDL driver's license is required.
