Job Description:

Independently perform installation, maintenance, fabrication, modification, troubleshooting, repair, adjustment, test of power distribution equipment such as switchgear, distribution transformers, power transformers, substation breakers, etc. Perform any work assigned to the employees in the classification. Perform work in other classifications when incidental, but necessary to accomplish work assignments. Work from verbal information, blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, technical publications, instruction bulletins, and applicable national, state and municipal specifications, codes and ordinances. Use electrical test instruments, measuring devices, fault-finding equipment, special and shop tools. Maintain compliance with Federal, State, Municipal and Air Force laws, regulations and requirements. Comply with and conform to CCAFS energy management conservation regulations, collective bargaining agreements, security, safety, hurricane and other specialized programs or contractual requirements relating to the business of the section, working within the limits of established policy. Maintain logs, records, charts, etc., as required. Maintain certifications, licenses, permits, etc., required for performance of assigned tasks. This classification may include managing hazardous materials or other environmental responsibilities May also require support of hurricane preparation and recovery activities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to work on ladders or aerial lifts above 6 feet, and carry up to 50 lbs, unassisted. Ability to perform energized work on voltage ranging from 50 volts to 13,200 volts while utilizing OSHA approved Protective Personal Equipment (PPE).

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Majority of work is performed outdoors in extreme heat with exposure to a variety of weather conditions. Remote locations, confined spaces and at heights ranging from 10ft up to and above 60ft.

High School Diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of four years of experience in high voltage related work and equipment. Must be able to repair medium and high voltage power system equipment up to 115KV, knowledgeable of transformer hookups and associated switches. Also, be capable of operating all types of distribution system protective devices associated with sub-stations. Proficient in the use and operation of Doble equipment in performing power factor, breaker timing and oil sampling. Experience in requirements outlined in OSHA 1910.269 along with good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others is a must. Must also possess at a minimum a valid Florida Class B CDL Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within a specified time. Currently possess or ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. US Citizenship required for obtaining a security clearance.
