Job Summary:

Supervises a specific function in the Distribution Center. Prepares chargebacks to return damaged merchandise: ensures OSH regulations, security policies and practices are in place and observed. Duties and Responsibilities: Supervises and directs a group of subordinate warehouse associates in accomplishing various assignments at a Distribution Center. Assures merchandise is properly received using established procedures and guidelines, and forwarded to required storage locations; stock required for delivery/transfer to other locations are properly picked and loaded. Assures damaged merchandise is segregated and authorization has been obtained for return to vendors; ships merchandise to vendors and obtains proper documentation. Ensures that security procedures regarding merchandise and spaces are followed.

- Plans the utilization of subordinate associates, equipment, facilities, materials and tools, etc., to accomplish work operation on a weekly or monthly basis. Establishes deadlines, priorities and work sequences to be followed. Determines assignments that can and must be done concurrently and those that can be delayed. Reviews work in progress or on completion. Adjusts work plans, assignments and methods as necessary to accomplish the work as effectively and economically as possible. Ensures materials needed are at work site and replenishes supplies as needed. Furnishes supervisor with status reports on work being accomplished and any statistical data required. Assists in budget planning by providing and/or recommending staffing needs, etc.

- Establishes and monitors preventative maintenance and repair programs for vehicles. Determines maintenance and repair priorities; establishes maintenance schedules, reviews and evaluates work-in process and completed work to assure compliance with established standards. Reviews and analyzes major component repairs; provides guidance as required. Ensures that daily inspections of fleet equipment is performed by operators along with complying with all federal, state and DOD regulations.

- Establishes work schedules, ensuring that there is enough work to keep everyone in the warehouse busy. Maintains time cards, approves/disapproves leave, sets performance standards and prepares work performance reviews. Reviews applications of job candidates, interviews and makes selections. Determines work priorities, checks work in progress and when finished, for compliance with procedures, methods and deadlines, and urges or advises associates to meet deadlines. Answers associates questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions and other directives. Determines training needs of subordinates and arranges for its accomplishment; counsels associates; adjusts informal complaints and grievances through discussion with appropriate personnel and initiates disciplinary actions; recommends promotions or re-assignments. Promotes the participation of subordinates in programs such as suggestion program, cost reduction program, etc. Assures that rules and regulations for housekeeping, security and safety are observed. Maintains production or statistical reports and records used to keep track of the effectiveness and efficiency of the operation.

- Ensures that subordinates take a random sampling of at least 5% of each day's receipts, ensuring that merchandise received is saleable and accurately counted, properly marked for slotting, and purchase orders are properly adjusted by receiving personnel.

- Responsible for conducting periodic inventory of supplies and equipment; determines discrepancies or short and damaged items and advises supervisor so that corrective action may be taken. Accounts for all merchandise in stock and transferred items, etc.

- May be required to operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE).

- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Works under the general supervision of a designated supervisor. Performs normal day-to-day assignments independently within limits of authority, referring unusual or complex problems to appropriate supervisor for assistance and resolution. Exercises judgment when taking action. Completed work is reviewed from the standpoint of how effectively and economically the operation is run. TRAINING REQUIREMENT:

Associate must receive Hazardous Material (HazMat) training within 90 days of hire per Department of Transportation regulations

Qualifications:

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:

One year of experience performing warehousing related duties, such as receiving, storing, issuing, shipping, operation of manual material movement equipment, etc. or similar work that provided the knowledge and skills to perform the duties of the position.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE:

One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of general experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for one year of general experience.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

Three years of warehousing experience including work that demonstrated the ability to prepare material receiving and transfer documentation, provide direction to lower graded warehouse workers, and ability to operate a fork lift.
