Title:
Technical Writer

KBR is seeking a highly skilled Technical Writer to join our Team!

Researches, develops, and/or updates content for printed manuals, Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs), I-types, and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) documents, illustrations, and parts breakdown manuals using software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Arbortext Editor, and/or Oxygen XML Editor and EMS-NG.

Edits eXtensible Markup Language (XML) and/or Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) is a must along with experience with U.S. Army developed Interactive Authoring and Display System (IADS).

Reviews, edits, and proofreads materials written by others, give guidance and provides suggested revision.

Prepares technical documentation written to Military Specification such as MIL-STD-40051 and MIL-STD-38784; coordinate layout and organization of documentation.

Gathers and researches technical information, including engineering and development information, for use in documentation activities.

Interacts with Subject Matter Experts, Instructional Designers, and Programmers as part of a courseware production team.

Exercises safe, mature, discretionary handling of GFE materials, sensitive materials (documents and equipment), and any GFI for training.

Prepares a variety of types of technical documentation for ground combat and watercraft systems which provide technical guidance for the operation, evaluation, maintenance, and repair parts support.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism or related field with at least 4 years of related experience. In lieu of a degree, 12 years of equivalent related experience using Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Arbortext, and/or Oxygen or IADS to create documents for XML authoring, development, and collaboration for technical manual development.

Ability to read engineering drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics.

Experience coordinating graphics development to prepare technical publication graphics and illustrated parts breakdown/exploded view diagrams for uploading into the NPA graphics storage area is required.

Must be able to edit using eXtensible Markup Language (XML) and/or Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) is a must along with experience with U.S. Army developed Interactive Authoring and Display System (IADS).

Must have demonstrated experience preparing technical documentation written to Military Specification such as MIL-STD-40051 and MIL-STD-38784; coordinate layout and organization of documentation.

Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) and Security Clearance.
