Job Description
Eastern State Hospital, located in scenic Williamsburg, Virginia, has a well-intentional emphasis on community focused mental health care. This state of the art campus, situated on 500 acres, consists of two patient care buildings with 300 patients, and a highly skilled staff of over 900. Eastern State Hospital is part of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services ( DBHDS ) system, and is accredited by the Joint Commission.
Eastern State Hospital invites qualified applicants for the position of Psychiatric Nurse Educator to provide ongoing education and training to nursing staff based on mandates, evidence-based best practices, performance issues, quality management/ performance improvement focus areas, and ongoing professional growth of staff. The position reports directly to the Chief Nurse Executive and provides direct and indirect expert nursing training, serves as a role model, mentor & coach, consultant, educator, resource and collaborator for a large nursing staff.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience participating as member of nursing leadership team to identify educational needs and opportunities
Experience in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating educational offerings based on needs of nursing staff and nursing QM findings.
Advanced communication skills in teaching to varying levels of staff using various educational mediums (online, live presentations, polycom, etc.).
RN nursing license ( BSN ) and experience in education/teaching of nursing staff and/or nursing students.
Advanced level computer skills and utilization of the Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. M. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
Graduate degree in Nursing.
