Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 AM 24 hour on call, weekends, holidays, Travel

How you will contribute to LifeNet Health's success:

As a Transplant Coordinator - PTV, you provide input and facilitate the donor referral, clinical management, and organ recovery processes in order to maximize the number of transplantable organs and tissues using knowledge of critical care principles such as hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, and administration of critical care medications. You complete medical and legal documentation of the organ recovery process and communicate with hospital development to ensure effective donor follow-up. Makes appropriate decisions regarding the complexity of the case and escalates to higher level if necessary. This position will work part time variable hours and requires a minimum of one (1) shift per month with a maximum of six (6) shifts per month and is required to remain up to date with new skills, processes, and complete required training on a monthly basis.

What you'll do:
Evaluates referrals for organ and tissue donor suitability based on LNH, OPTN/UNOS, AOPO and CDC guidelines/recommendations and other regulatory requirements. Ensures that donated organs are allocated in an efficient and timely manner in accordance with LNH and OPTN/UNOS policies. Ensures organs and tissue will be recovered to maximize utilization in accordance with LNH and OPTN/UNOS policies.Responsible for all aspects of donor evaluation and the physiologically management including review of medical and social history; assessment of hemodynamic stability and implementation of strategies to optimize organ function prior to recovery. The Coordinator must be knowledgeable of the pathophysiological sequela of brain death. Identifies organ and tissue-specific and behavioral risk factors utilizing all available resources.Preserves organs and tissue according to LNH and national standards to ensure maximum viability for transplantation. Ensures that the legal next-of-kin (NOK) is provided the option of organ and tissue donation in a sensitive and compassionate manner. Responsible for the complete logistical coordination of all cases between LifeNet Health and transplant centers providing effective communication and leadership with coworkers, physicians and hospital staff throughout the donation process. Maintains a permanent record of the organ and tissue donation in accordance with accepted confidentiality standards. Complete the donor EMR record in a timely and accurate manner according to LNH Standard Operating Procedures.Provides work direction, coaching, and mentoring in clinical competencies and serves as Preceptor for new staff. Role models advanced proactive professional nursing through conduct, appearance, communication, mutual respect, leadership, ethical decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
What you'll bring (Minimum Requirements):
Associate's degree in Nursing (with 4 years clinical experience as a RN) required OR Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (with 2 years clinical experience as a RN) required.Valid State Driver's LicenseValid, active RN license and be in good standing with the issuing state board of nursing. Must be maintained throughout tenure in position.Minimum 2 years' experience in Critical care experience in either Medical, Surgical Trauma, Thoracic Cardiovascular, Cardiac, Pediatric or ER; 4 years' experience in critical care experience in either Medical, Surgical Trauma, Thoracic Cardiovascular, Cardiac, Pediatric or ER. 4 years' experience in Critical Care preferred.COVID-19 Vaccination Required.

Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and juggle multiple time sensitive projects, multi-task, identify project interdependencies and potential risks/pitfallsAbility to make decisions independently regarding medical management of organ donors, staff triage, logistical arrangements and organ allocationThinking through and solving problems step by step; often as to look beyond the obvious solution to a problemAbility to be collaborative and work as part of a team to resolve issues, complete tasks and meet business needs
