Job Description:

Garmin International, Inc. is seeking a SQLServer Database Administrator / SQL Developer to join our engineering team in Scottsdale, AZ. This is an exciting opportunity to provide support to our Aviation business segment with a team focused on providing aircraft performance, weight-and balance and runway analysis solutions to regional and commercial airlines. We provide the technology and expertise to develop comprehensive, integrated aircraft performance solutions for a safe takeoff, enroute, and landing, delivered to our customers via our applications.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Install, configure and administer Microsoft SQL Server database servers.Perform upgrades of the database and software to new release levels and handle database migrations.Create backups and maintain recovery policies and procedures.Work with the Manager to establish\\maintain database security structures, encryption, and SOX compliance procedures.Create and manage database schema objects including tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, and triggers.Configure and administer database replication between servers, across Local Area Network and Wide Area Network for high availability and disaster recovery.Perform database tuning, coordinate application releases, and troubleshoot database issues including slowness and latencies.Analyze existing database systems and recommend improvements.Build the automation scripts for managing database infrastructure.Contribute to technical research on new technologies, processes or procedures.Work with team members to ensure technology is effectively supporting the enterpriseImplement database high availability solutions using Clustering, Zerto, SIOS DataKeeper, and multiple types of replication used in concert.Automation scripts using PowerShell/Git for managing database infrastructure.Provide 24x7 on call support as necessary EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or another relevant field AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience. Outstanding academics with the demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledge.
Ability to write complex queries with multiple joins, optimize queries, create indexes, identify opportunities for database optimization Expert experience writing Structured Query Language (SQL) and T-SQL Experience with Microsoft SQL Server High Availability (SSMS, SSAS, SSRS, SSIS, and Replication) Experience with Clustered Microsoft Windows Servers and related technologies Demonstrated ability to implement new technologies effectively Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a small team setting Consistently demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Superior academics Aviation experience Airline Operations and Performance Engineering knowledge Experience with additional data platforms such as MySQL, SQLite, MongoDB, Redis, or RabbitMQ Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
