Overview

Responsibilities
DLIFLC is the military\u2019s primary school for foreign language instruction. As part of the Army Training and Doctrine Command, the institute provides resident languages courses in sixteen (16) languages and dialects for more than 3,000 resident students taught and supported by approximately 2000 faculty and staff annually. Instruction takes place at the Presidio of Monterey in Monterey, California five (5) days a week, six (6) to seven (7) hours per day, with one (1) to two (2) hours of homework each night.

The DLIFLC contract supports several programs: 1) DLIFLC resident courses delivered in both print and digital formats 2) DLIFLC non-resident courses offered at various language training detachments across the world 3) Training programs for faculty and staff developed by DLIFLC\u2019s support organizations.

Production Support Services support comes in the form of English editing, design and layout for both PDF and Online materials, and multimedia support. These materials will be deliverable in physical classrooms or as part of a blended or flipped classroom environment. Instructional materials include course materials, homework, assessment materials, and other ancillaries designed and formatted as needed. Ancillary materials include homework and instructor-created supplemental instructional material that is not part of the core curriculum, faculty training and workshops. Services may occasionally be requested for special projects such as Language Day brochures, editing and production for DLI published journals and otter similar materials. Multimedia services are necessary for in house development of illustrations, graphics, simple animations, audio, video, and interactive content for upload into UCAT or other mainstream commercial platforms as requested. DLIFLC uses Sakai as its learning management system and SharePoint as is document management system.

Qualifications
PSS\u2019s must have the two skillsets provided below:
Content Editor: Possess the ability to quickly decipher and reorganize information that might seem disjointed into a meaningful and stylistically appropriate form; efficiently manage the work of two or more activities or projects simultaneously; attend to detail; interact in a fast-paced, professional, and multicultural work environment; and produce professional quality, learner-centric materials for final publication; and meet deadlines. Native English-speaking ability required. Working proficiency in any foreign language highly preferred. Past experiences working professionally in an educational setting preferred. Multimedia Specialist: Strong knowledge of professional multimedia software and integration with industry standard desktop publishing software. Experience in video and audio editing for mobile and Internet use for military instructional materials highly preferred. Native English-speaking ability required. Working proficiency in any foreign language highly preferred. Past experiences working professionally in an educational setting preferred.
