Job Summary

Nuclear Waste Partnership, an LLC of Amentum, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Mine Hoisting Mechanical/Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering team located in Carlsbad, NM.

The successful candidate will perform the electrical and communication support duties as a Cognizant System Engineer for the WIPP mine hoist systems. Able to perform engineering calculations and analysis within the scope of engineering discipline and provide rigorous written documentation supporting design decisions. Functions to be performed include hoisting system upgrade design, system maintenance and troubleshooting (including on-call) support, technical procurement support, project coordination and support, and configuration control and management. Provide technical field leadership support to solve equipment malfunctions. Maintain system configuration documentation including but not limited to system drawings, design specifications, trending analysis, and system health indicators including performance of an annual system health walk down report. Track and perform assignments, develop project schedules, cost estimates, and statement of work for projects as needed. Associate's Degree in a Mechanical or Electrical discipline plus two (2) years of experience is required.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical discipline, or
Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's Degree program in a Mechanical or Electrical discipline with classification as a Senior, completed at least 90 credit hours, and scheduled to graduate within 1 year. Transcript must be provided.Due to the nature of the work, all candidates must be US Citizens.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer the completion of 80 credit hours in technical subjects (math, science, engineering). Related experience may substitute for education at a rate of six semester hours for each year of full-time related work experience up to a maximum of 60 credit hours.One year part- or full-time experience in a professional engineering related job is preferred.Education in Electrical Engineering disciplines is desired.Relevant experience in control design related to process controls for speed and position regulation, industrial form D four quadrant AC to DC thyristor power converters, MG sets, and large DC motors is a plus.Experience reading electrical and/or mechanical diagrams is preferred.Previous WIPP Project experience is a plus.
