Job Description:
Cape Fox Shared Services and Eagle Health are accepting resumes for anOptician/Optometrist to work full time at the FDA in White Oak, MD.

The Optician/Optometrist will provide vision screenings, eye examinations, and safety eyewear recommendations. Assist with vision protection program. Examining and analyzing the eye for diseases and defects and prescribing correctional lenses or exercises. Determines eye-hazardous jobs and assists in supervision eye protection program.
Perform vision tests and analyze results Diagnose sight problems, such as nearsightedness or farsightedness and eye diseases, such as glaucoma Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and medications Provide treatments such as vision therapy or low-vision rehabilitation Provide pre- and postoperative care to patients undergoing eye surgery-for example, examining a patient's eyes the day after surgery Evaluate patients for the presence of diseases such as diabetes and refer patients to other healthcare providers as needed Promote eye health by counseling patients, including explaining how to clean and wear contact lenses Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Job Requirements
Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) from a 4-year school or college of optometry in the United States, Puerto Rico or Canada accredited by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE) License to practice optometry in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) Interviewing patients and conducting examinations; analyzing visual functions Detect evidence of ocular and systemic disease and recommending the referral of cases for medical or other diagnosis Performing refractions and prescribing vision aids Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds Sit or Stand throughout a regular work day Ability to work on computer for long periods Strong written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail. Self-motivated with minimal oversight Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook Some travel may be required Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
