We have an exciting opportunity to join us in supporting one of our valued customers as a 3D CAD (Computer-Aided Design) Designer I to work out of Fort Eustis ,VA.

This is an entry level position under the supervision of the Engineering Manager and/or his designee, the 3D CAD Designer performs a variety of design/drafting activities including preparing/updating drawings for projects, preparing assembly/manufacturing drawings, following established guidelines and procedures for CAD data management, and assist in workload distribution within the engineering department.

Responsibilities

Prepare dimensional drawings, part drawings and more complex assembly drawings. Revise and update existing drawings reflecting design changes, following engineering change management processes to ensure consistent documentation of the project. Review blueprints, plans, specifications and other customer documentation as requested by engineer or project manager. Maintain notes, design calculations and other documentation (drawings, bill of materials, list of design parameters, performance guarantees, etc.) for future reference. Maintain engineering and configuration data base for projects. Review and modify information as required and in accordance to engineering change request. Liaison with logistics, production control and floor personnel as required to update drawings per engineering change requests. Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

Desired Skills:

Knowledge of part modeling and detailing using Solidworks software or equivalent (desired). Experience in drawing layout, interpreting dimensions and part requirements per bill of material listings, drawing revision and notes. The ability to climb stairs and lift 10-20 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Excellent communications skills: interpersonal, listening, oral, and written. Skilled in PC usage and associated software including Microsoft Office. Knowledge and use of database and database queries. Able to work with some supervision, efficiently schedule and manage time. Experience in the DOD intelligence environment or equivalent government agencies, with field level experience preferred Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook)
Education:

Associate's Degree in Design, Drafting, or Engineering field or completion of a technical trade school in CAD, or equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge.
Clearance: Clearable (Ability to Obtain)
