Job Description:
ICI Services is looking for a motivated individual who wants to support our existing Missile Systems contract at Naval Surface Warfare Division, Port Hueneme, CA (NSWC PHD) as an experienced Vertical Launch System (VLS) In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) Specialist . We are a mid-sized defense contractor providing Engineering, Logistics, Program Services, and Technical Services to government clients in 14 states and the District of Columbia.
Security Clearance:
Applicant must be able to obtain and maintain an active Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET personnel security clearance.
Responsibilities:
The Vertical Launch System (VLS) In Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) Specialist functions will be:
Provide VLS technical support aboard USN ships, located at the Naval Stations and shipyards. Will also work in an office setting at NSWC PHD. Technical documentation review, report writing, generation of technical presentations, and testing of VLS components in a lab environment. Perform scheduled testing for the VLS launchers using ISEA test equipment such as missile simulators and Missile Round Cable Test Set (MRCTS). At the conclusion of the testing period, technician will complete Launcher Certification Message to record test results. Candidate must have basic knowledge and understanding of analog and digital circuitries, able to trace electronic signals using schematics and block diagrams. 50% travel: 2 weeks to 3 months. 3 months for ship availability, 1 week for ORDALT; typical TDY is 2 - 6 weeks at a time. However, for longer shipyard periods, 3-6 months is a possibility (although rare for somebody just starting out in the program). Experience Requirements:
Highly preferred United States Navy ratings are as follows in priority order:
GMC/GMCS/GMCM - VLS pipeline Gunners Mate 1 (GM 1) - VLS pipeline Gunners Mate 2 (GM 2) - VLS pipeline Gunners Mate 3 (GM 3) - VLS pipeline * VLS pipeline means that they have worked on shipboard VLS launchers for most of their Nnavy career.
Required Skills: The candidate must be able to work in a shipyard industrial environment, able to traverse ladders and stairwells onboard ships and in dry docks. Applicant needs to be able to lift up to 45 pounds (need to confirm with OSHA requirements) of test equipment (note: The heaviest missile simulator weighs about 60 pounds, and handled as a two-person carry when transporting it from pier-side to the VLS launcher).
Educational Requirements:
High School Graduate/GED or Technical School Graduate
When hired, the candidate must successfully pass the 10-week VLS In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA)/Fleet Service Representative (FSR) course, complete the VLS Personnel Certification Program, and obtain System Maintenance Certification (SMT) as a condition to continued employment.
