Job Description:

Applied Research Associates, Inc. is seeking a Principal RDT&E Program Manager to provide on-site support in support of a Department of Defense (DoD) customer. The applicant will work intimately with a multi-disciplinary team supporting research and analysis in microelectronics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, autonomy, energy and power, software engineering, networking, communication, cyber, electronic warfare, aerial/ground/naval platforms, biotechnology, and space systems. The successful candidate:
Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.Engages DoD customers to understands the end-to-end mission that customers want to achieve.Evaluates customer and /operational needs to help define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.Leads and coordinates analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture.Manages technical responsibilities within project cost and schedule constraints.Resolves cross-functional technical issues.Assess and provide recommendations to the DoD client for decision and action.Provides technical coordination between the DoD client, industry engineers and internal engineering groups to articulate technical issues.Prepares and presents technical information internally and externally that addresses specific subjects of interest.Leads multi-disciplined engineering/science/hardware/software groups to ensure customer contractual requirements are met.Advocates the customer's critical needs to internal stakeholders.Analyzes and develops recommendations to resolve contractual technical issues at system delivery.Establishes, implements, and documents technology integration or migration strategies.Works across a variety of mission domains and environments, including distributed ground systems and space payloads.Ensures sufficient product definition and coordinate closely with execution teams to ensure successful implementation and adherence to functional and performance specifications.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in a physical science, management, finance, or mathematics and 12+ years of relevant experience.Experience architecting, analyzing, developing, and integrating end-to-end systems in areas such as defense systems, space payloads, ground stations or communications for DoD/government customers.Ability to partner with stakeholders and team leaders to identify mission gaps and develop system solutions which provide customer value.Proven and effective written and verbal communications skills, interpersonal skills and customer focus skills.Experience collaborating in a team environment, with customer, teammate and subcontractor relationships.Experience applying technologies and capabilities in ways not previously anticipated to solve our customers' ultimate objectives.US citizen with a minimum DoD Top Secret clearance and the ability to obtain SCI access
Desired Qualifications:
Current DoD TS/SCI security clearanceMasters Degree with 9+ years experienceAcquisition or R&D experience in areas such as microelectronics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, autonomy, energy and power, software engineering, networking, communication, cyber, electronic warfare, aerial/ground/naval platforms, biotechnology, and space systems.Relevant experience creating and implementing system architectures and complex mission solutions including ground and space assets.Experience with real-time high throughput data processing and defense systems.Experience with functional and physical architecture development.Project Management Professional certification
This position is contingent upon award of a contract expected in Spring 2020 supporting the Department of Defense.
