Job Description:

Summary Assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities - include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1) Demonstrate ability to braze and solder without any leaks.
2) Demonstrate ability to use Nitrogen when soldering at all times.
3) Studies building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations.
4) Inspects structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe.
5) Locates and marks position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors.
6) Fabricates and constructs pipe support hangers and systems.
7) Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of brass, copper, steel and plastic.
8) Fills pipe system with Nitrogen and reads pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking.
9) Welds holding fixtures to steel structural members.
10) Have knowledge of basic refrigeration piping principles.
11) Insulate pipe after pressure test inspections are completed.
12) Cut, glue, and miter insulation around tees, elbows, and p-traps.
13) Cover and wrap insulation with UV protectant wrap when needed.

Education and/or Experience - High School Diploma or GED; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Other Qualifications - Must be able to travel. Ability to work nights, weekends, and out of town if needed. Welding school/classes helpful.

About BRR Refrigeration

BRR Refrigeration is a commercial refrigeration and HVAC contractor focusing mainly on service and installation of supermarkets, convenience store refrigeration, and cold storage facilities. We have been in business for 20 years, employ over 60 employees, and hold mechanical licenses in Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland, and Delaware. We currently provide service and installation work for Food Lion, Kroger, Harris Teeter, Wegman's, Publix, and Wawa, as well as Walmart, Costco, and NEXCOM (Navy). We are familiar with all conventional supermarket rack systems, loop piping systems, glycol systems, and cascade systems as well as different pumps including standard Copeland reciprocating, scroll, screw compressors, and open drive compressors. Our technicians have also been trained in CO­2 Refrigeration Plant for low temp operation. We have one currently in operation in Portsmouth, VA.
