BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for a strong Linux Administrator Level III to directly support software developers taking our geospatial solutions to the next level. The engineer will own all the IT infrastructure that is supporting multiple development teams creating cutting-edge geospatial software products that meet real-world operational mission requirements for our customers.
 
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Linux System Administrator Level III, possess excellent customer service skills, be able to multi-task between multiple tasks at the same time, have highly-developed triage/troubleshooting skills, be eager to work in a high-energy environment, be able to nimbly adjust focus when needed due to dynamic priorities, and be able to communicate well with a geographically-distributed team.
 
 
Clearance Level:
Possess a current/active TS/SCI and be willing and able to obtain a Cl polygraph
 
Certification:
Must be willing and able to obtain a DoD 8570 certification
 
 
Job Roles & Responsibilities:
 
Creation and management of VMWare-based virtual machines Installing, configuring, maintaining, monitoring and troubleshooting Linux servers, either physical (bare metal) or virtual (VMWare or equivalent) Hardening Linux systems based on DISA STIGs requirements or similar hardening regulations Auditing, virus scanning, and lAVA resolution Offline system patching (such as RPM) Proactively coordinate with Developers and Security staffs to balance alignment of the local development environment with applicable standards and guidelines, maintain flexibility and support developers' needs. Coordinate response and mitigation efforts for IT outages, incidents and remediation efforts as required. Participate in planning efforts for the supported development teams in order to identify any potential IT impacts/needs then propose potential solutions Proactively identify upgrades/enhancements which would improve the reliability/usability/security of the overall system, then prepare business cases and present the data to site management Create necessary documentation (installation instructions, network maps) then invest the effort to ensure all documentation is always up-to-date  
Education, Skill, and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or related discipline (4 additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree) with 5+ years of related experience:
Minimum of 5 years' experience with the administration and distribution of Linux systems (preferably RHEL and CentOS at a minimum) Proficient in creation and management of VMWare-based virtual machines Experience installing, configuring, maintaining, monitoring and troubleshooting Linux servers, either physical (bare metal) or virtual (VMWare or equivalent) Experience in hardening Linux systems based on DISA STIGs requirements or similar hardening regulations IC/DoD security experience to include auditing, virus scanning, and IAVA resolution Offline system patching (such as RPM) Desired Skills
Infrastructure automation tools (Chef, Puppet, custom scripts) Software configuration management server administration experience (e.g., git, Subversion) Virtualized IT administration experience (e.g., Amazon Web Services, VMware ESXi) Software scripting experience (e.g., Python, Ruby, shell scripting) Budget skills - create/manage a dedicated pool of money used exclusively for IT system maintenance
