Job Description:

This position is located in the Division of Depositor and Consumer Protection, Community Affairs Branch, Community Affairs Section of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in Washington, D.C.

Salary reflects a pay cap for this position of $243,500.

Responsibilities
• Provides expert advice on formulating strategies for banks to use a range of products and services as well as partnerships to reach the unbanked and underbanked;

• Develops implementation programs that have national impact on promoting access to the mainstream financial system through a broad array of financial services.

• Serves as a national resource for banks and their community development partners, on difficult or complex issues relating to economic inclusion, community development, including small business, single family mortgages, multifamily housing, and/or mixed-use development.

• Directs FDIC’s regional Community Affairs staff. Leads or otherwise participates in strategic planning efforts and leads staff in developing performance goals and plans to meet these goals and objectives. Develops strategies and leads efforts by Community Affairs to support the CRA examination process.

•Develops, evaluates and implements national policies, procedures, and strategies for the FDIC’s community affairs, community development and economic inclusion initiatives that are carried out in the regions.

• Leads the identification and assessment of emerging issues and technologies that impact the Community Affairs Branch. Formulates strategies, initiatives, or other projects to ensure that FDIC Community Affairs continues to be a leader in promoting community development and economic inclusion.

• Directs partnership activities and coordinates multi-state projects with the media, federal agency executives, bank and non-profit CEOs and public officials.

• Communicates with other senior managers and staff across FDIC, bankers, national consumer and community groups, and others, often including through leadership or participation on working groups and task forces, to promote community development and expand underserved consumers’ access to mainstream credit and transaction products.

• Represents the FDIC in speaking engagements, community meetings, inter-agency or trade association conferences; these are often events of a national scope and involve complex and controversial community and economic inclusion issues.

• Prepares and conducts briefings on complex and controversial matters for the most senior FDIC officials, potentially including the FDIC Board of Directors.

• Prepares communications on matters related to community development and economic inclusion. May provide leadership in analyses of complex issues.
