POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the MWR Recreation Supervisor, the Fitness Center Lead provides leadership amongst the fitness center staff. Ensures daily operations are performed as per established polices & practices. Lead ensures a high quality product for the customer. They will act as the primary liaison between the fitness facility and the community by providing courteous, friendly and professional assistance to patrons. This position ensures facilities remain clean and serviceable .

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
Significant portion of position will involve planning, organizing, and supervising various MWR activities and special projects; assists in the planning and development of programs.
Responsible for the overall day-to-day performance of assigned fitness facilities.
Leads a multinational team in providing top quality services to facility and program patrons.
Communicates extensively with a large customer base with the ability to handle customer issues and concerns.
Manages security and accountability of both government furnished and expendable equipment/property.
Ensures cleanliness/serviceability of equipment and check out items.
Maintains quality, safety and environmental standards in compliance of company, command and Host Nation standards.
May be required to conduct personal training sessions and/or group fitness classes; when required to ensure compliance to the PWS. Trains and develops the key skills and abilities of assigned personnel. Must be willing to work on holidays, short notices, all shifts, overtime and assigned to any MWR location in Kuwait. Vacation scheduling will also be dictated by mission requirements and determined independent from spouse if applicable.
Performs other duties as required and directed by CSD Management.
MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:
Personal computer, laptops, scanners, printers, faxes, other network equipment and other general office equipment. Miscellaneous fitness and exercise equipment.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is generally conducted in an office environment. However, duties may occasionally involve working outside with a potential exposure to extreme temperatures. Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices. Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
Work may require heavy lifting up, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical or biological agents.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certifications : One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Certification as a personal trainer or group fitness instructor preferred, but not required.
CPR/AED and First Aid certification from a nationally/internationally accredited agency is required within 60 days of hire.

Experience :

Must have general knowledge base of health and fitness programs and equipment. At least 2 years customer service field experience. Past experience in planning and executing fitness and exercise events. Experience as a personal trainer or group instructor preferred, but not required.

Skills :

Must exhibit strong organization and communication skills.
Capable of effectively communicating technical information in English, both written and verbal.
Must have the ability to meet tight deadlines, organize workload, and juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
Must have the ability to quickly solve problems.
Must have superior organizational skills, working in a fast-paced, on-demand environment
Requires strong interpersonal skills to work with internal and external customers.
Requires a collaborative work style, fostering cooperation and teamwork.
Must be able to exercise discretion and good judgment.

SUPERVISORY/BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides leadership, supervision, guidance, and direction to a multinational team in support of the MWR mission.
May have budget responsibilities (APF & NAF) in coordination with the MWR Recreation Supervisor.
