Job Description
Eastern State Hospital, located in scenic Williamsburg, Virginia, was founded in 1773, with a well-intentional emphasis on community focused mental health care. This state of the art campus, situated on 500 acres, consists of two patient care buildings with 300 patients, and a highly skilled staff of over 900. Eastern State Hospital is part of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services ( DBHDS ) system, and is accredited by the Joint Commission.

Eastern State Hospital invites qualified applicants for the position of Trades Technician III . This position reports to the Trades Manager for providing a safe and comfortable environment for residents and staff. Responsible for inspecting all fire/smoke barrier walls on a quarterly basis to meet CMS / NFPA guidelines and maintain the hospitals Barrier Management Program. Conduct general maintenance work for the carpentry, plumbing, electrical and mechanical shops by repairing and maintaining properly functioning equipment.

Minimum Qualifications
Multiple positions will be hired from this posting
• Journeyman's level of knowledge of firewalls/smoke barriers and fire stop applications.
• General plumbing and carpentry skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams and schematics.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair various types of plumbing equipment and maintenance methods pertinent to the carpentry field.
• Ability work independently, to plan assigned work, select and gather needed materials, tools and equipment for maximum efficiency and compliance with codes and regulations.
• Fire stop certification or the ability to acquire certification within 12 months.
• Experience at the Journeyman's level in commercial: plumbing and carpentry fields.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
