A Mechanical AutoCAD Designer in Springfield, OH is currently available with our manufacturing client. In this role, you will efficiently create drawings in AutoCAD 2017/2018. To be considered for this role you will have two plus years of experience using AutoCAD in layout and/or mechanical fabrication drawings.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Navigate AutoCAD 2017/2018 efficiently and knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within an engineering and design department
• Read, interpret and modify tooling and product design.
• Modify details and profile drawings based on design changes.
• Responsible for creating detailed and accurate tooling, dies, jigs, fixtures, and product drawings from layout and profile drawings from rough sketches and notes
• Ensures quality of drawings and functionality of equipment by assisting in the building/acquiring of prototypes; testing and analyzing results; making various calculations, such as strength of materials, weights, simple forces, and stresses, frequently using charts and tables; analyzing the effect of proposed changes for proper fit and/or interference problems; recommending possible solutions or alternate construction; modifying drawings as required; conferring with engineers to resolve issues; adhering to Company policies and procedures
• Create basic drawings for equipment and tooling fabrication and make final sketch of proposed tooling, checking fir for details, material to be used, relationship of details to each other and to project as a whole
• Apply algebraic and geometric formulas and standard to engineering data to develop to configuration.
• Drawing multiple views; depicting relationship of component and parts; identifying dimensions, angles, curvatures, tolerances, and materials; preparing bills of material and specifications; creating documentation required and processing Engineering Change Orders; ensuring adherence to designated quality and cost parameters; using CAD systems

Qualifications:
• Five years' experience using AutoCAD in tool and die design and/or mechanical fabrication drawings utilizing 2D & 3D CAD programs
• Associates degree or its equivalent and 5+ years design experience in the field or in a related area.
• Five years' experience using Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Willing to work varied hours.
• Experience with AutoCAD Inventor to produce 2D & 3D drawings.
• Process or mechanical integration experience
• Preferable tooling experience with press and stamping processes in the automotive industry
