WP BrandStudio - the branded content arm of The Washington Post - is experiencing exponential growth and we're seeking a Senior Visual/UX Designer to join our studio creative & experience team. Our team makeup consists of talented designers and creative strategists who constantly push boundaries to design and develop new and innovative solutions for studio advertising partners. We operate similar to a creative/advertising agency pushing new boundaries to produce next-generation products and experiences through a journalistic lens.

Reporting to the Creative Director of WP BrandStudio, the ideal candidate should have a strong background in visual/interaction design, UX/UI, branding & identity, and typography. Key to this role is having strong and systematic work ethic, positive attitude, and a willingness to learn while evolving his/her skill set. She/he should have an interest in 360-degree storytelling and look to grow the studios premium offerings by leveraging the latest digital storytelling tools (data visualizations, video, photography, interactive elements, AR, VR, etc.). This exceptional design candidate will also be expected to work closely with our development teams owning the front end for highly immersive projects while managing one direct report.

Key Responsibilities:
Bring the best of your creativity to deliver leading edge user experiences realized through world-class designs, from concept through final productDesign and produce pixel-perfect storytelling concepts based on wireframes and research and translate business requirements into intuitive user interfaces across multiple form factorsArt direct and lead hands-on design approach for multi-sensory experiencesCollaborate with engineering team to implement design/visual consistency across program elements and future studio productsDefine, adhere, and improve existing standards and perform appropriate research to incorporate the latest trends across design practices and UI/UX developmentBrainstorm constructive conceptual design ideas for projects and collaborate with editors, strategists, developers and other designers to drive innovation bringing ideas to fruitionManage one direct report (Visual Designer)

Qualifications:
5-7+ years of digital and interactive design experience and experience managing design talentAvailable portfolio demonstrating strong UX/UI, visual/graphic design, and interaction design skills/principlesExpertise in designing interactive user interfaces and web interface details for various mobile and interactive platformsExpert experience with Adobe CC Suite (particularly PS, AI, ID, AE, PR)Demonstrated hands-on experience using HTML/5 & CSS/3 and other digital capabilitiesWorking knowledge of responsive design with a strong emphasis on mobile-first design practicesExpert-level typography skills with an eye for detailAbility to work well in teams while independently managing all of the design components related to a given projectStrong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgmentCommunicates clearly and concisely, both written and verbalBFA/MFA or BA/MA in Communication Design, Graphic Design, Information Design, Interaction Design, Interactive or Multimedia Design or professional experience is strongly preferred
