Work Authorization Forms (WAF) Coordinator

Position Summary:
As Work Authorization Forms (WAF) Coordinator, you will review all submitted Work Athorization Forms (WAF) and develop same for repair activities. You will train all repair activity personnel, and ensure all repair activities meet NAVSEA Standard Item tag-out and system isolation requirements. As WAF Coordinator you will also provide guidance to Ships' Force on developing system tag-outs, and coordinate subcontractor and government AIT work.

Contract Requirements: Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Review all submitted work authorization forms and develop the same for all repair activities. Train all production personnel working on navy vessels and maintain training list for all employees. Maintain daily WAF log during the repair availability and provide copies to the Ships' Force and repair departments. Ensure all repair activities follow guidelines set forth by NAVSEA instructions and that the safety of personnel and equipment are maintained at all times. Help schedule onboard work which impacts other systems and/or work. Obtain approvals from Ships' Force. Ensure ship system tag-out isolations are correct to ensure safety of personnel and equipment. Provide guidance to Ships' Force for developing system tag-outs. Ensure that all work authorization permits and tag-outs are completed as required. Help coordinate subcontractor and government AIT work. Perform other incidental and related duties as assigned by supervisor. Required Education, Skills, and Experience: Five years of experience in ship repair industry or equivalent combination of Degree from Maritime Institute and on the job experience. Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills and have the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization and with outside customers. Communication skills must be effective both orally and in writing, and candidate must possess the ability to speak in a large group setting. Must have the ability to train others. Must have experience working with Word, Excel, Project, Power Point, Visual Basic and Outlook. Must have good working knowledge of ships' operating systems, including how the isolation or energizing of one system affects other systems. Must have the ability to understand how completion of work applies to system restoration and be able to exercise good judgement in determining if system repairs can be completed. Must be familiar and knowledgeable of the Navy Tag-out User Manual (TUM) and Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM). Must be able to work independently. Physical Demands and Expectations: Office and shipboard environment; duties of this job require the mobility to visit jobsites when required. Requires occasional climbing and lifting up to 25 lbs. Must also be able to sit for long periods of time to perform detailed review of program essential information. Occasional exposure to noise levels requiring hearing protection. Must have motor coordination skills, the ability to perform basic arithmetic accurately and quickly, and the ability to express ideas using the spoken word and perception of speech.
