Responsibilities
The General Manager of the Communication Technologies and Engineering Division in the Engineering and Technology Group (ETG) leads a bi-costal organization of engineers and scientists providing technical expertise as the corporate focal point for communications. The organization addresses communications broadly covering architectures, policies, system design, performance, and implementation, and development of supporting technologies. It interacts with virtually all customer organizations within Aerospace addressing their needs from terrestrial networks, ground stations and wireless systems to spacecraft, main missions through ubiquitous telemetry and command. The responsibilities extend beyond the application of division expertise to communication systems encompassing additional efforts that routinely employ these communication disciplines such GPS and signals intelligence.
Responsibilities include working directly with senior Aerospace and customer leadership, advising and supporting in the areas of acquisition analysis and planning, architecture and design, and mission assurance. The General Manager is responsible for establishing strategic direction, Division technical operating plans, managing workforce staffing levels, talent development, overseeing the quality of technical products, strategic planning, goals and objective setting, and tracking external developments that impact the mission area. The General Manager has overall responsibility for the division as it works with its customers to insure mission success through all phases of the acquisition lifecycle.

Key Functions
Aerospace lead for the division technical operating plans, budget control, staffing, talent development, succession planning, workforce planning, customer interaction, and establishing technical positions. Maintain division focus on assuring mission success, from architecture development through operations. Develop division strategy and objectives consistent with the corporate and ETG goals, program office and customer expectations, and provide direction and planning for achieving strategic goals. With corporate management, participate in developing the corporation's unbiased, objective position on new and ongoing programs, new technologies and broad space systems. Work with customers to translate customer technical operating plans into technical priorities, manage funding constraints, plan and execute staffing as required. Provide leadership as the division explores, develops, and facilitates the implementation of emerging communication technologies, e.g., laser-based communications. Provide leadership in coordinating efforts across Aerospace to develop capabilities in the modeling and simulation of communication systems, influencing corporate strategy in this area. Actively participate in the presentation of results of studies and evaluations to customers in briefings and reports. Recommend advisability of pending launch or space test activities, active deployment, and research or study. Anticipate customers' future needs and create an agile, responsive work force. Grow the organization structure, guide staffing, develop and grow an outstanding management team. Collaborate with People Operations to optimize outreach to colleges, universities, and other opportunities to provide a pipeline of qualified and diverse technical talent. Provide leadership for setting goals and direction, mentoring, providing critical feedback, and coaching aimed at developing an agile, top-notch team. Work with the Civil Systems Group to insure application of communication expertise to the broadest range of corporate customers.

Qualifications
Required
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Science. Minimum 12 years of relevant experience with systems engineering processes and assuring space mission success. Demonstrated management skills across budget, planning, and recruiting and developing top technical talent. Demonstrated ability to lead integrated multidisciplinary teams. Outstanding interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, and ability to effectively work with all levels of management, including customers and contractors. Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills with proven ability to quickly establish strong relationships with stakeholder individuals and groups across multiple levels. Executive leadership and strategic planning skills. Moderate travel. Current TS/SCI.
Preferred
Master of Science in Engineering or Science Management experience in customer-facing organizations. Experience in the communication field through program leadership or technical training. Knowledge of mission assurance processes.
