About Stafford County Fire & Rescue

The Stafford County Fire and Rescue Department is a combination volunteer/career system consisting of approximately 200 active volunteers and 156 career staff operating from 13 stations in partnership with 14 volunteer fire/rescue or EMS squads. Covering 277 square miles of both suburban and rural countryside with 50 miles of coastline, the department operates in two battalions with 18 engines, 3 ladder trucks, two heavy rescue squads, 20 ambulances, 3 fire-rescue boats, and various other support equipment to respond to more than 13,000 emergency calls annually. Daily career staffing includes 8 paramedic transport units, 6 fire suppression apparatus, 1 battalion chief and 1 deputy chief. Stafford is located 40 miles south of Washington, DC and includes portions of Marine Corps Base Quantico, the Potomac Creek, Aquia Creek, and the Rappahannock River as well as over 15 miles of Interstate 95.
