Overview

We are seeking a full-time Senior Compliance Engineer in our Olathe, KS or Cary, NC or Phoenix, AZ location. In this role, you will be responsible for providing compliance leadership and project planning to ensure EMC, safety and radio transmitter compliance across multiple Garmin locations, throughout the product development process.
Essential Functions
Partners with Garmin Technology leaders to deliver best-in-class products in the Automotive, Marine, Outdoor and Sports markets. Using leading technologies in GPS navigation, wearables, high-end audio systems, marine environments and non-terrestrial network communication. Creates and implements complex regulatory compliance plans for major product development programsContributes to advanced regulatory and standards research on new technologies, markets and geographic regionsCreates and executes recovery plans as needed, displaying excellence in project management (identifying critical milestones, gating items and priorities, determining deadlines for deliverables on critical path, and communicating to cross-functional team members)Identifies compliance related risks, effectively communicates the threat and suggests best means for avoiding or reducing the riskProvides the compliance direction and takes the lead on regulatory input during the product design process and leads compliance and safety design review meetingsIndependently determines general approach and specific solutions to compliance problems, offers process improvements, and authors new procedures with oversight Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experienceExcellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)Experience with ESD, EMC, EMI and product safety testing and country certifications or homologationsUnderstands production and operations issues as they relate to compliance engineeringExperience reviewing most EMC and safety design aspects for circuit design/PCB layoutAbility to explain and document regulatory and standards requirements and constructively critique compliance plans written by teammatesDemonstrated proficiency in and can communicate advanced concepts such as LPS (limited power source), limited current circuit, single fault condition, insulation systems, CTI, etc.Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsDesired Qualifications
Previous work or internship experience with circuit design for consumer or aviation productsOutstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)iNARTE certification in EMC and/or Product SafetyPast participation on a standards-writing committeeNFPA membership and/or contributions to the NEC
