Who We Are:
We solve problems in materials science and engineering through applied materials characterization and advanced metallurgical analysis techniques. We apply this expertise to a broad client base, both commerical and government, including the aerospace, transportation, and power generation industry.
Objectives of this Role:
Serve as a metallurgy laboratory staff member to perform material evaluations in support of science and engineering staff.Work with other laboratory staff and engineering staff to ensure completion of project and program objectives.Gain proficiency and expertise in a variety of metallurgy laboratory preparation and evaluation techniques.Work with management and lab staff members to develop and implement new laboratory procedures as required.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
Perform preparation of metallurgical samples, including cutting/grinding/polishing as well as preparation and use of chemical etchants.Perform material evaluations using tools such as optical microscopes, hardness testers, and advanced characterization tools such as scanning electron microscopes and X-Ray Diffraction units.Assist with lab instrument troubleshooting/repairs on an as-needed basis.Meet regularly with project managers to understand their needs and complete laboratory work in support of these needs.
Requirements:
Requires a high school diploma or equivalentMaterials Technology AS degree or related classes are helpful2-5 years: Experience in a laboratory setting with related experienceCertifications in relevant technical-related fields, metallurgical, or microscopy/analytical laboratory equipment-based areas, are desired but not requiredA valid/clear driver's license is required
Special Requirements:
Must be a U.S. person (i.e., U.S. citizen, non-U.S. citizen national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) due to ITAR work in section.
