Objectives of this Role:
Provide hands-on support for experimental tests at realistic process conditions (pressure, temperature, fluids) in a controlled test environment.Provide design support in the development of experimental test facilities.Provide real-world, hands-on insight and experience to improve component and rig designs.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
Install/remove piping components and assemblies, assist in assembling/disassembling test fixtures and mechanical hardware; load, unload, move materials and equipment for operations; drive Institute vehicles and forklifts; operate cranes and other lifts.Assist in the installation, servicing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical and fluid handling equipment.Assist in the installation and wiring of instrumentation.Support the operations of elevated-pressure and elevated-temperature flow loop test facilities.Communicate with Institute staff, customers, and vendors regarding work status, progress, problems/solutions, and results.Participate in continuous operations and safety improvement processes while working in a team environment.Seek to support additional projects as opportunities arise.
Requirements:
Requires a high school diploma or equivalentTechnical degree in instrumentation, machining, welding, or a related field is preferred but not required2-10 years: Familiarity with hand tools and power tools; knowledge of piping/fluid systems (hydraulic, compressed air, water, natural gas) and/or metrology is preferred but not required.Related mechanical experience (examples include equipment repair, mechanic, carpenter, machinist, plumbing, plant/process/oilfield operations, HVAC, agricultural equipment, etc.)Proficiency in typical office computer programs/skills: word processing, workbooks, email communicationsA valid/clear driver's license is required
Special Requirements:
Must be a U.S. person (i.e., U.S. citizen, non-U.S. citizen national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) due to ITAR work in section.
