The Laboratory for Physical Sciences (LPS) is seeking a motivated Technology Acceleration Lead to provide expertise, guidance, and support to the research and implementation of solutions that align mission-driven priorities with technical capabilities. LPS is a premier research organization, managed and operated by the U.S. Government, focused on developing new and innovative technologies to improve national security. Across its three locations, the University of Maryland-College Park, the University of Maryland-Baltimore County, and Ft. George G. Meade, Maryland, LPS works across industry, academia, national laboratories and other government agencies to conduct research on advanced information technologies and drive state-of-the-art scientific and technical innovation.
As a Technology Acceleration Lead, and member of the LPS Program Management team, you will push the frontiers of science and engineering by leveraging your expertise, ideas, and vision to:
- Establish detailed objectives for research and development activities, together with others on the LPS Program Management team
- Develop strategies to achieve those objectives, ensuring that the technical goals will be well supported by the overall programmatic strategies
- Iteratively optimize plans and evolve the strategies with which those plans are aligned
- Accelerate the pace of technical progress through optimizing these plans and proactively managing the uncertainties inherent to the research
- Ensure that the goals, strategies and implemented plans enable a path to full realization of the technologies
The ideal candidate should have excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills, and possess the following knowledge and experience:
- 5+ years of experience in roles developing and optimizing technical plans for activities with high uncertainty;
- Leading the successful planning of a high-risk technology or product development effort;
- Accounting for contingency plans and risk mitigation activities in schedules.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule:
On-the job training, Internal NSA courses, and external training will be made available based on the need and experience of the selectee.
Monday - Friday, with basic 8hr/day work requirements between 0600 to 1800 hrs (flexible).
