Job Description:

Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI) is seeking a scientific programmer/analyst to support NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in the quality assessment of land science data products. This includes data and products from the moderate resolution instruments onboard operational satellites such as Terra, Aqua, Suomi NPP, JPSS and POES. Duties include understanding the Earth science data products derived from the satellite instrument data, working with science investigators in evaluation of science algorithms and products, development and verification of algorithm changes to improve the quality of the operational products, routine quality assessment of the operational products. and the development of new tools to assist in quality assessment.

Required Qualifications:BS or MS degree in Physical Science, Computer Science, Mathematics or related science background4 years (2 years with MS degree) of related experienceMust possess good programming, analytical, computational, and statistical analysis skillsMust have 2-3 years of scripting/programming experience in Bash, Python, C/C++ in a UNIX/Linux environment.Proven competency in programming and data processing in the remote sensing domainMust be able to work independently with minimum supervision and be self-motivated.Desired Qualifications:Experience working with earth science data in HDF4, HDF5 and netCDF formatsExperience working with data products from moderate resolution sensors like MODIS, VIIRS and AVHRRGood organizational and communication skills are a strong plusEOE, including disability/vets
