This position will involve engineering and technical support related to the construction, testing and operations of propulsion and reactor plant components. The Welding Engineering team provides technical support for all welding operations. This support includes:
• Qualifying and writing the welding procedures
• Reviewing and approving supplier welding procedures
• Audit and assessment of suppliers
• Welding subject matter experts (SMEs) for production trades and engineering

What You Will Do
Researches, plans, designs, verifies, validates and develops mechanical and/or electromechanical products and systems, such as metals, instruments, controls, plastics, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, resonance, hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Recommends various technology options or approaches for system, processes, facility or program improvements in terms of safety, performance, efficiency or costs. May be responsible for the transfer from R and D to manufacturing. The Welding Engineering team provides technical support for all welding operations. This support includes:
• Qualifying and writing the welding procedures
• Reviewing and approving supplier welding procedures
• Audit and assessment of suppliers
• Welding subject matter experts (SMEs) for production trades and engineering

What You Must Have
2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; or 0 years experience with Masters in related field. Successfully completed an undergraduate engineering degree from an ABET accredited program. Manufacturing/welding experience. Be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance. Be a U.S. Citizen.

Bonus Points For...
Prefer engineers with a BS in Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology, Materials Joining, Metallurgical Engineering or Material Science Engineering. Experience utilizing industry-current Engineering design and analytical or modeling software. Experience with NDT is a bonus:Including experience in all NDT methods including visual inspection (VT), magnetic particle inspection (MT), dye penetrant inspections (PT), eddy current inspections (ET), ultrasonic inspections (UT) and radiographic inspections (RT).

Physical Requirements
May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
