This isn't an average position where you might be restricted to one small piece of an application, but the opportunity to test and validate high performing software as part of a commercial product.

As part of a closely knit and collaborative product team, you will be working with Product Managers, Business Analysts, UX/UI Designers, and Software Engineers to deliver engaging IoT based solutions for Generac customers.

You'll need to be well versed in mobile and web apps, API's, cloud infrastructure, SQL and NoSQL databases and modern testing approaches and tools. Working closely with the technical team you will be responsible for executing both manual and automated test cases, developing complex test cases and completing product testing.

Through the testing process, the Test Engineer partners closely with the other testers and our software development team to deliver key findings about the product under test. This position is expected to be able to breakdown highly technical challenges and act as a technical leader in support of mentoring junior members of the team.

Essential Duties: Develop, maintain, execute, and monitor automated tests. Mentoring junior test team members. Develop, maintain, and execute complex test plans. Record and document the results of the testing and provide insight into the variances between the planned results versus actual results to the software development team as appropriate. Helps establish and reinforce use of automated test frameworks and tools. Run suite of regression tests to help support system releases. Help troubleshoot production issues. Operates and maintains test environments. Minimal Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science. or equivalent technical degree 5 years of experience in software development related to automated testing Prior experience leading or mentoring technical employees Preferred Qualifications: Experience testing IoT based hardware and solutions Experience creating and running load tests against web/mobile apps and APIs Experience creating and running security tests against web/mobile apps and APIs Experience creating automated test frameworks Experience defining test processes Experience creating and maintaining complex test plans Experience troubleshooting web and mobile applications to identify field issues Experience programming or scripting with tools such as Selenium, Postman, or similar Experience as test lead on a small to medium size agile team Experience leading and/or mentoring junior team members Experience creating, enhancing, running, monitoring, and troubleshooting automated tests Experience scripting SQL and/or NoSQL databases to setup test data Knowledge & Skills: Excellent understanding of testing activities and testing processes Excellent knowledge of both manual and automated testing Ability to work as part of a large implementation team that executes in an agile fashion Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills Strong attention to detail, critical thinking and problem-solving skills Excellent time management skills: able to meet deadlines, manage time effectively Takes a collaborative approach to testing/troubleshooting Able to work collaboratively with other team members, provide direction, and leadership to team, and take directions from others Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
