The Test Equipment and Environments Center (TE&EC) is within the Systems Integration & Test directorate at Raytheon Missiles and Defense. The Test Equipment and Environments Center (TE&EC) includes all the engineering disciplines responsible for systems design & test across all Raytheon Missile Defense (RMD) products.
The Mission of the Engineering Prototyping & Fabrication Department (also known as the Bike Shop) is to provide rapid, innovative, and affordable engineering solutions and prototype fabrication that demonstrate new technologies and capabilities, from concept through flight demonstration. We also provide quick-turn innovation, design, fabrication, assembly, and test capabilities in support of existing and future program engineering needs.
We are looking for candidates willing to work independently and collaborate with our engineers and fabricators to fabricate 3D printed parts rapidly using a wide variety of technologies (FDM, CFF, SLA, SLS). Additionally, they will support the composites team to fabricate printed molds and composite parts including fiberglass-reinforced epoxy, carbon-reinforced epoxy, rubber, urethane, and other composite materials. Projects can range from a quick proof of concept to flight test hardware.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
Operate, maintain, and repair several 3D Printers, including Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) Extruded Filament, Stereolithography (SLA) UV Resin, and Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) Sintered Powder machinesOperate and maintain a Laser Cutter, mini-CNC Milling (PCB's and Engraving), and various other machines as they become available for usePost-Process 3D-printed parts (remove supporting material, wash and UV cure as required, sand, buff, paint, install inserts, etc.)Perform basic Computer Aided Design (CAD) manipulation of existing designs for printability, we use Creo ParametricManage material procurement and inventoryManage a work queue, ensure that customers' needs are met in terms of date, quality, and final productEducate employees on options regarding 3D printing, recommend alternative design strategies, materials, and methods as necessaryTeach "Introduction to Additive Manufacturing" classes to employees occasionallyWork with other 3D printer cells throughout the company to maximize efficiency of machine time, materials, and quality of partsReview CAD models, drawings and instructions, and fabricate composite parts, including trimming, assembling, and finishing. Work with sealants, epoxy adhesives, and Room Temperature Vulcanizing compounds (RTVs), including application and finishingResponsible for inspection and maintenance of composite equipment and moldsRecord and report all labor hours, fabrication operations, and metrics within the Content Management System.
Qualifications You Must Have:
High School Diploma requiredA minimum of 1 year experience with Desktop-Grade 3D printers4 or more years relevant Manufacturing experienceExperience working with delicate parts including sanding, painting, installing threaded inserts or heat-set inserts.Experience with model-making, painting, detailing, labeling, etc.Experience with and knowledge of CAD and 3D modeling software to modify parts and prepare for printing.Experience working with electronics (wires, cabling and circuit boards) and mechanical hardware for the purposes of repairing machines.
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Value:
2+ years' experience with Desktop-Grade 3D printers or 1+ year experience with Industrial grade 3D printers.6+ years relevant Manufacturing ExperienceManufacturing expertise in an additional field (Electrical Fabrication, Welding, Composites, Machining, etc.)Hands on experience processing 3D printed parts from various machines, including SLA and FFF/FDM. Knowledge of different 3D printing methods, mediums and options, including design recommendations depending on the platform and material.Advanced knowledge of CAD and 3D modeling software to modify parts, prepare them for printing, create molds, and recommend design changes.Extensive experience repairing, building and/or maintaining 3D printers.AA / AS degree
