Job Title: Payroll Specialist

Strategic Insight, Ltd. is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our Finance Team at our Corporate Office in Arlington, VA. Summary

Looking for a well-rounded proactive person who can contribute to other team members in Finance Department for a small business government contracting company. Responsible for Payroll, A/P, and expense reports. Deltek Costpoint preferred.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Payroll
Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing and accounting systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions. Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates. Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices. Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors. Prepares and files various semi-monthly, monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax returns. Ensures compliance with SCA health and welfare payments and other benefit plan payments. Calculates and accurately maintains vacation and sick leave payments, including fringe benefit payment. Compiles data from payroll sources Prepares payroll account reconciliations. Oversees the maintenance of current employee data systems. Assist employees and supervisors with payroll issues, and requests for payroll information.
Accounts Payable
Daily monitor of SI-AP inbox and mail for accounts payable invoices. Process vendor invoices in accounting system and post. Set up Vendor files, ACH pay and records maintenance. Weekly processing of Vendor payments with checks and ACH. Weekly and monthly check register review to analyze missing or vendor payment compliance. Maintain thorough records of Vendor history.
Education
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Admin preferred. 3-5 Years of related experience Experience with a government contractor strongly desired.
Success for working in this position requires:
Skills in Microsoft Excel is a must. Payroll system - Paychex or similar experience required. Deltek Costpoint preferred. Knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
