Current Need
We are seeking a Controls and Software Engineer located in the Monroeville / Greater Pittsburgh Area.
This position is onsite as needed and may work from home at times, as well as be the on-call support over weekends/evenings/holidays.

Job Summary
As a Controls and Software Engineer for McKesson, you will use your skills to troubleshoot, design, deploy, coordinate, and develop control programs and human-machine interfaces for a McKesson client. As you master the controls and associated programs, you will have the opportunity to take on additional areas of responsibility which may include system management software design and programming using C# tools, report development using web-based tools and SQL, system interfaces, database programming and administration, or other areas. You may also be relied upon to complete tasks and other related projects/functions outside your primary position.

Key Responsibilities

Develop real-time control programs using both the Allen Bradley and Beckhoff platforms.
Support existing customer systems in service as well as supporting production needs
Assist with creating formal software and/or hardware design specifications
Work with existing system software / code currently developed
Work on system software start-up for McKesson contracts
Manage proper product integration and installation from a programming perspective
Coordinate machine software functional specifications
Develop & assist with proper project management procedures
Program interfacing with McKesson R&D programs


Minimum Requirements

6+ years’ experience in working with PLC (Programable Logic Controls) programs, providing technical support and in-field work
Skill in Allen Bradley suite of PLC software is required
Critical Skills

Solid understanding of the Microsoft Windows Suite
Experience writing and troubleshooting programs in the Allen Bradley suite of PLC software
Experience with troubleshooting software and hardware issues remotely is a must
Experience with Vision systems and Scanners a plus
Experience creating and modifying HMI screens
Must have experience in a client facing role with strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work with electrical schematics and troubleshoot basic electrical systems
Additional Knowledge & Skills

Technical writing experience a plus
Able to work independently
Knowledge of local networking, including Ethernet and TCP/IP configuration
Considerable problem-solving aptitude
Computer hardware, networking and communication knowledge
Knowledge of Automated refill centers and pharmacy management systems a plus
Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in controls engineering, database engineering and customer support

Working Conditions
Environment is pharmaceutical mail order / distribution plant; some work from home time is an option

Physical Requirements
May need to stand and crouch for extended periods while troubleshooting machines / equipment
