Job Description
Eastern State Hospital, located in Williamsburg, Virginia, was founded in 1773, with a well-intentional emphasis on community focused mental health care. This state of the art campus, situated on 500 acres, consists of two patient care buildings with 300 patients, and a highly skilled staff of over 900. Eastern State Hospital is part of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services ( DBHDS ) system, and is accredited by the Joint Commission.

  ESH invites applications for the position of a Registered Dietitian.

This position provide quality comprehensive nutritional care to patients by maintaining appropriate and accurate nutritional documentation in accordance with CMS , OBRA , TJC , state and hospital policies in Geriatrics and Adult Psychosocial Rehabilitation ( PSR ). Maintains a liaison with medical and nursing personnel in order to enhance the effectiveness of the nutritional treatment of patients. Monitors quality of care through ongoing quality improvement. Assists in menu planning and nutritional analysis as needed. Actively support agency SWaM Procurement goals and Executive Order 20 (2014); and where possible promote SWaM through agency outreach events. Support the intent of the EO20 and the goals of the Agency Swam Plan.

Multiple positions may be filled by this announcement. 
 
This position is considered essential personnel and would be required to work in the event of an emergency, pandemic, or facility need. All ESH positions are required to work different shifts to include nights, weekends and holidays, and/or overtime as requested.

Minimum Qualifications
Registered Dietitian (RD) as established by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency for The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics ( AND ) 
 
Graduate from an accredited college or university with major coursework in nutrition, dietetics or health related program. 

Knowledge of the principles and practices of nutrition and dietetics.  
Knowledge of regulations and standards governing nutrition programs.  
Knowledge of the principles of supervision and ability to plan programs coordinating with staff and interdisciplinary teams.  
Must be able to write legibly, type and have a basic understanding of word processing.
