$7,500 Sign-On Bonus to those new to state service with signed one year written agreement.

There is an opportunity for you to earn Retention Bonuses with continued employment quarterly ($5,000) that could equate to ($20,000) annually!


Eastern State Hospital, located in scenic Williamsburg, Virginia, has a well-intentional emphasis on community focused mental health care. This state of the art campus, situated on 500 acres, consists of two patient care buildings with 300 patients, and a highly skilled staff of over 900. Eastern State Hospital is part of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services ( DBHDS ) system, and is accredited by the Joint Commission.

 
Eastern State Hospital invites qualified applicants for the Registered Nurse Supervisor position on our Forensic Units.

  ESH is currently hiring for Day shift (7:00am-3:30pm) , and Night shift (11:00pm-7:30am) to include weekends, holidays, and overtime.

 
• The Registered Nurse Supervisor reports directly to the RNC .

 
 • Provides comprehensive person centered nursing care to individuals and groups of individuals with complex mental and physical illnesses through the supervision of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and direct services associates.

 
• Accountable for the management of assigned shifts including supervision of nursing services and the environment in which clinical nursing is practices for the delivery of quality patient care.

 
• Assists ensure the implementation and maintenance of policies are consistent with regulatory standards.

 
• Adheres to the Eastern State Hospital and the department of Nursing's missions, goals and objectives.

 
This position is considered essential personnel and would be required to work in the event of an emergency, pandemic, or facility need. All ESH positions are required to work different shifts to include nights, weekends and holidays, and/or overtime as requested.

Minimum Qualifications
• Must successfully complete BLS , TOVA and other required training upon employment at Eastern State Hospital. 

 
• Must successfully complete and maintain competencies. 

 
• Presents effective interpersonal communication skills, team focused care and a professional appearance /approach. 

 
• Presents the ability to assess plan, implement and evaluate care utilizing knowledge of pharmacology, psychiatric and physical disorders, cultural needs of the psychiatric patient. 

 
• Presents good clinical knowledge and resource to staff. 

 
• Experience or ability to delegate , supervise, evaluate and problem solve. 

 
• Registered nursing licensure or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Preferred Qualifications
• Work experience with Psychiatric and/or geriatric populations. 

 
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution or higher education preferred.
