Job Title: Software Engineer, Basic

WR has a potential need for a Software Engineer for an exciting position supporting U.S. Navy Surface Ship Track Management systems in Dahlgren, VA. The selected candidate will perform code reviews and fixes and design reviews.

Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

Consults with customers to gather information about program needs, objectives, functions, features, and input and output requirements. Consults with customers concerning maintenance of software system. Formulates and designs software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design. Develops and directs software system testing procedures, programming, and documentation. Analyzes define and document requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware, operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, and outputs. Analyzes and estimates feasibility, costs, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs. Develops and maintains plans outlining steps and timetables for developing programs. Researches and evaluates software and hardware to support development or utilization.
Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience:

BS Degree from ABET-recognized curricula: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Computer Science/Engineering. Three (3)+ years of professional experience in C, C++, C#, Visual Basic, and other object-oriented languages. Demonstrated software development using one or more of these languages under the Unix, Windows, Linux, and MS-DOS operating systems. Experience may be substituted instead of degree depending on domain experience and contractual requirements.
