Job Description:

WR has a potential need for a Systems Engineer, Basic for the development, deployment and maintenance of machinery controls systems. This individual will responsible to the design and development of PLC based control systems tailored to USN ships.

Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

Troubleshoot existing issues, program and modify PLC networks. Use advanced engineering concepts in the solution of complex problem solving. Analyzes the performance of hardware and software interfaces and identifies alternatives for optimizing using computer resources and modern hardware solutions. Applies generally accepted programming standards and techniques to assure efficient program logic and data storage and/or manipulation. Participates in designing, coding, testing, debugging, configuring, and documenting operating systems and software. Provides assistance and consultation to users in the integration of operating systems and software. Installs systems and user utilities for modifications and upgrades of systems and environments. Evaluates maintenance programs and manages system maintenance and repair activities. Diagnoses and resolves control systems underperformance or reported problems. Acts as liaison with manufacturers and vendors of software and application products, with regard to performance evaluation or problem diagnosis and resolution. Plans and executes system version upgrade releases and custom interfaces. Works with others to develop alternative system designs. Recommends selection, approval, and acquisition of hardware, software, networking components, and services. Installs, configures, and tests operational environments with supporting hardware, software, and networking components.
Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience:

Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Math, Physics or related scientific discipline. Three (3)+ years of professional experience in systems, software, electrical or mechanical engineering. Must have at least two (2) years of experience working with/on US Navy ship systems. Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of structured text and setting up PLCs. Ability to understand engineering drawings/schematics and follow Navy processes. Preferred experience with: C/C++/C#/JAVA Atlassian Tool Suite Software Version Control (SVN, Git, ect.) Linux Systems Test experience in writing test procedures and conducting test events. Ability to optimize, add new features and improve existing control systems. Integration experience in fielding a PLC based system. Familiarity with Rockwell/Siemens platform is preferred Experience with field start-ups. Experience with electrical troubleshooting. Ability to troubleshoot software and hardware issues related to embedded systems. Attention to detail and meticulous logging of testing, troubleshooting steps, and findings. Proficient with MS office and Windows 10 Demonstrate effective teamwork experience and communication skills, both written and verbal. Software development experience is a plus. Understanding of the following is preferred: JAVA and Python Engineering processes such as waterfall, agile, ect. Control algorithms Object orientated practices Familiarity with hardware and software Release to Manufacturing (RTM) requirements.

Ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret Clearance
