Job Description:

WR is seeking an Alteration Installation Technician (AIT), Lead, to repair developmental, production military, and commercial shipboard equipment.

Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

Reads drawings to perform equipment removal and installation. Leads junior technicians in cable removal to include opening cableways, disassembly of MCT's and stuffing tubes per provided drawings. Oversees and performs cable installation, including routing, banding, closing, testing MCTs, and stuffing tubes by provided drawings. Will perform mechanical disassembly and assembly of shipboard equipment. To include, but not limited to, standard and custom Military and Commercial connectorization, switchboard, and cabinet termination. Responsible for transporting and staging material and equipment in support of the project. Receives status and progress reports from junior personnel and provides to onsite Lead and project manager as required. Experience providing training, guidance, and oversight to junior technicians. Maintains and continuously seeks improvements upon working environment/lab for maximum efficiency, quality, cleanliness, and capabilities. Evaluates the performance of junior staff or subordinates. Assist in the selection, training, and development of staff.

Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience:

Associates Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology OR, Completion of formal resident trade school or apprentice programs OR, Completing at least two (2) years of U.S. Navy "C" schools in electronic equipment or systems. Five (5) + years of progressive experience performing "hands-on" work in support of Alteration or Installation, production, integration, repair, troubleshooting, or maintenance of government or commercial electronic systems or equipment. Two (2) + years of progressive experience as a technician (in related electronics fields) performing "hands-on" work, which required advanced mechanical or electrical knowledge to solve installation problems, and understanding of the Alteration and Installation process, and exercising independent judgment in performing tasks. One (1) + year of experience providing technical guidance to junior technicians (in related electronic fields) performing "hands-on" work in support of the installation, repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electronic systems or equipment. Familiar with CTWDs, WAFs, Tag-out procedures, safety requirements in shipboard and laboratory environments. Possess current OSHA 10-Hour Maritime Certification, NAVSEA Cableway Certification, and NAVSEA Connector Certification. Proficient in verbal and writing skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Experience with mathematical concepts applicable to electronics, including Ohm's law, Kirchhoff's law, SI and Metric units, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry. Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, SIDs, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and safety rules. Familiar with a computer and other office equipment. Valid Driver's License in state of residence may be required in order to support travel requirements located at various military and commercial installations.
