Diesel Life Cycle Engineering Representative (DLER)

Overview

The GBS Group , an engineering services and consulting firm, is seeking a Diesel Life Cycle Engineering Representative to join our Philadelphia Engineering Office. The GBS Group designs and delivers high technology services and solutions to most advanced naval and maritime ships, as well as to special purpose platforms and assets. Our office is located at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, which is a dynamic urban development, offering the Philadelphia region a unique and centrally located waterfront business campus committed to smart energy innovation and sustainability. The Navy Yard has over 20 acres of parks, one mile of waterfront trail and is located less than one-half mile from the Wells Fargo Center, Lincoln Financial Field, Citizens Bank Park, as well as the retail/entertainment center Xfinity Live!

The DLER provides direct support to the assigned ship. The DLER is effectively an extension of the ship's crew. This relationship is designed to assist the ship's engineers in maintaining the optimal operational profile of the propulsion plant. The goal is to reduce the probability of a casualty and improve operational availability while simultaneously supporting the development of future maintenance requirements.

DMS responsibilities are as follows:
Coordinate with the Maintenance Team Representatives, RMC and DEI for each assigned vessel on engine life cycle maintenance. Participate in the following Integrated Project Team Development (IPTD) events:
Incremental IPTD Meetings

- Work Package Integration Conference (WPIC)

-Work Package Execution Review (WPER)

- Completion Conference / Industrial Support Visit (ISV) C+21
Maintain the Life Cycle Maintenance Workbooks for the assigned vessels. Maintain the DMS DRS Workbooks for the assigned vessels. Monitor vessel life cycle maintenance, performance data and DRS compliance. Work with the Logistician to ensure all lifecycle and condition-based work is captured for upcoming availabilities. Update and upload the Master DMS DRS Workbooks Update and upload the Life Cycle Maintenance Workbooks Submit all DMS branding reports required to SURFMEPP in support of the SURFMEPP End-to End Process. Support technical evaluation of Departure from Specification requests completing the DFS Adjudication Form, Enclosure (8), and forwarding the form to the engine product line ISEA.

Qualifications
Candidates must possess the following professional experience and qualifications:
Minimum Education: HS diploma or GED Minimum Experience: Fifteen (15) years of US Navy Engineman or relevant maritime experience in the areas of Navy diesel propulsion and power generating systems. (3) years of experience with the Diesel Maintenance Strategy (DMS) and Diesel Readiness System (DRS) programs. Experience should include prior certification Navy Fleet Diesel Engine Inspector (DEI) and/or an OEM Technical Service Representative. Personnel should have at least four (4) years of experience with Colt-2.5, FM Opposed Piston, Caterpillar 3608, or Colt-Pielstick PA6B engine lines. Personnel shall be fully capable with the use of the Shipboard Automated Maintenance Manager (SAMM) software; diesel engine performance analysis (DEPA) data collection, reviewing and analyzing engine data to provide technical recommendations, performing engine balance/grooming events.
