How you will contribute to LifeNet Health's success:

The Surgical Technician/Import Coordinator position handles the surgical scrub role, and the import organ offers from transplant centers. You will anticipate the needs of the surgeon and will be responsible for the support needed involving instruments, supplies, and equipment during the surgical procedure. The role ensures quality patient care during the operative procedure and is responsible for constant vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. This role will also be responsible for arranging transportation (ground and air) for the Organ Recovery Coordinator, recovering surgeon and/or just the organ. You will also handle Kidney Perfusion of imported and/or locally recovered kidneys. This position will also be responsible for flyouts which include flying with surgeons for organs when needed with the expectation of exhibiting performance in a manner that exemplifies the mission, attributes, and values of LifeNet Health.

What you'll do:
Preoperative Duties: Donning Organ Recovery (OR) attire and personal protective equipment (PPE). Gathers, checks, and opens supplies and equipment needed for the surgical procedure. Performs the surgical scrub, and donning gown and gloves. Sets up the sterile back table and Mayo stand with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for the procedure. Assists the team members with gowning and gloving. Assists with draping the patient and establishing the sterile field. Participates in the surgical site and patient verification during the time out procedure. Secures tubing, cords, and other sterile accessories.Intraoperative Duties: Prepares and anticipates additional instrumentation, equipment, and supplies for usage during the procedure. Anticipates the needs of the surgeon by passing instruments and supplies to surgeon during procedure. Measures and passes medications, hemostatic agents and irrigation solutions utilized during the surgical procedure. Holds retractors or instruments as directed by the surgeon. Sponges or suctions the operative site. Cuts suture material as directed by the surgeon. Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during the procedure. Prepares and passes off specimen(s) as appropriate.Postoperative Duties: Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization. Assists other members of the team with cleaning of room. Assist with postmortem care of the donor. Participates in debriefing and quality improvement practices to ensure quality patient care. Maintains stocking and preparation of supplies for organ recovery.Import: Assumes responsibility for all aspects of importing an organ into LifeNet Health's service area. This includes all air and ground transportation to get transplant teams and LifeNet Health staff to and from the recovery site and flying with surgeons when needed.Perfusion: Assumes responsibility of operating the kidney perfusion machines and maintaining accurate clinical preservation records. Places kidney(s) on pump, monitors pump numbers and delivers to transplant centers for transplant and suture biopsy sites.Clinical Documentation: Document all clinical and logistical information for all donor referrals/donors timely and accurately and in compliance with all internal and external regulatory standards.Packaging: Assisting with packaging for transplant centers for living donor kidney recoveries as needed
What you'll bring (Minimum Requirements):High school Diploma or GED; Associate Degree in Health Care or related field preferredValid Driver's LicenseCertified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA)1 year scrub tech experience OR 2 years organ procurement Organization (OPO) experience
