HII-NNS is Recruiting a Electro-Mechanical Engineer to Perform as a FORD Class Reactor Department Liaison (RDL). The Reactor Department Liaison (RDL) performs liaison services for the A1B Propulsion Plant Planning Yard (PPPY), working closely with the FORD Class Reactor Department personnel. The RDL's responsibilities are proactive and engaged shipboard when practical. A persistent RDL presence provides a critical interface to address evolving issues, to facilitate efficient maintenance performance, to address emergent issues, to recommend process improvements, and to identify potential technical changes.

General Job Description Template:

Applies electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results; construction of developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies and components; and quality testing. Supports and participates in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems.

Basic Qualifications

9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD.- Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Preferred Qualifications

It is preferred that the candidate has prior Navy experience.

Applicant should have a strong understanding of naval nuclear propulsion plant principles of operation, maintenance, and support.

A1B propulsion plant senior watch standing qualification experience is preferred.

Strong interpersonal communication skills are required to work with Ship's Force, Naval Reactors, the Type Commander, and Naval Nuclear Laboratory. Navy senior leadership experience desired E7 or above.

Demonstrated experience in the supervision, operation, and maintenance of Naval Nuclear Propulsion Systems.

Ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of naval nuclear propulsion plant principles of operation, maintenance, and support.

A1B/A4W propulsion plant operating experience a plus.

Preferred: Navy senior leadership experience desired E7 or above, and ideally previously demonstrated experience in the supervision, operation, and maintenance of Naval Nuclear Propulsion Systems.
