Job Description:

SimIS is seeking a Solution Architect to oversee the big picture of the capability development .

Responsibilities:??????

Support the decomposition of the Enablement Support Services (ESS) in capability components.
Analyze potential candidates for development of the components and assess integration challenges and opportunities.
Investigate and model the relationships between capability components and between these and the environment in which the capability will operate.
Maintain consistency and traceability between the components and the requirements set.
Provide solution design and architecture input for further capability requirements identification and decomposition.
Recommend potential solution alternatives, contribute technical input into alternative analysis, considering business and technology productivity, usability, and total cost of ownership.
Develop and coordinate architecture perspectives for identified alternatives to support analysis and selection of a preferred alternative.
Communicate proposed architectures to stakeholders and collaborate and coordinate with existing domain architects in the formalization and adoption of IT standards and procedures.
Perform modelling, architecture, configuration management, and design activities to ensure completeness, consistency and clarity of requirements and align with relevant NATO Architecture Framework (NAF) perspectives.
Support the elicitation, capture, development, analysis, evaluation, and traceability to capability requirements.
Support Program and Project planning activities to ensure that the dependencies between architecture and the other elements of the plans are understood and taken into consideration.
Maintain the architectural artifacts in their repositories ensuring version and configuration control, support coordination of architecture products with management and governance bodies and identify lessons learned, so lessons can be shared with the organization.
Support the Branch Head and organize and participate in workshops, seminars, conferences, and meetings in support of the activities above. Also, collaborate with National and international military and civilian organizations, including Centres of Excellence and academia, in support of the activities above.

Requirements:

Knowledge of modern software/hardware architectures, design patterns, key hardware/software technologies and technology paradigm shifts and familiarity with information system design tools and techniques.
Familiarity with current NATO service-oriented architecture (SOA) for information systems and experience with NATO capability development processes.
Experience in modern Identity and Access Management solution patterns.
One or more Enterprise Architecture related certifications are highly desired, such as the ones required to support the United States DoD Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) Process or the equivalent from other Nations, or the ones recognized by leading organizations in the field such as the TOGAF 9 (The Open Group).
Experience working with teams embracing AGILE DevSecOps or DevOps principles, including CI/CD with relevant certifications.
Experience developing documentation on recommended technology solutions including research, cost analysis, risk information, and implementation strategy and able to socialize and educate concepts and products.
Familiarity with architecture modelling standards (e.g. UML, Archimate, BPMN, etc.).
Working experience with architecture tools (e.g. Enterprise Architect, Power Designer, Archi, ARIS, XMLSpy, etc.).
At least one Enterprise Architecture related certifications such as the ones required to support the US JCIDS process or the equivalent from other Nations, or the ones recognized by leading organizations in the field such as the TOGAF (The Open Group)
Minimum of 5 years in the last 10 years in the field of solution or architecture development, to include development of business, application, information, and technology architectures in accordance with The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) methodology.

Education:

Degree in computer science, information systems, operations research, IT, engineering, or related discipline or 5 years experience as a Solutions Architect.

Certification Required: Industry recognizable cloud solution architect certification.

U.S. Citizenship Required

Nato or DoD Secret (or higher) Security Clearance, Citizen or a NATO country.

Location: Norfolk or surrounding area or be willing to relocate to Norfolk and surrounding area.
