ARServices is seeking a Public Health Epidemiology Specialist to join a DHS CWMD Medical Operations Team. This position requires an Active Secret clearance and the ability to obtain DHS Suitability. This is an Onsite position at Client's location in Washington, DC.
With the threat of transnational terrorism and ongoing development of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) by nations potentially hostile to the U.S., DHS has taken steps to integrate the full range of its radiological, nuclear, chemical, and biological capabilities to enhance the nation's abilities to prevent terrorists and other threat actors from using WMD, and support operational partners in closing capability gaps along adversary pathways. As the focal point for this effort, DHS Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) Operations Support Directorate (OSD) requires advisory and assistance services to effectively operationalize CWMD by developing and enhancing the capabilities of the DHS Components as well as federal, state, local, territorial and tribal (FSLTT) partners. ARServices is part of a team that provides advisory and assistance services (program support, training and exercise, medical operations, information integration, requirements generation, and operational coordination) to CWMD Operations Support Directorate (OSD).
Principal Duties Perform the functions of a technical expert in the relevant infectious disease monitoring, public health preparedness, veterinary medicine and health-security threats in support of homeland medical operations. Develop strategic concepts for future homeland medical operations, multi-agency collaboration process improvedment and/or interagency interoperability. Apply expertise in defining and resolving issues, performing analysis, and developing plans and requirements in the subject-matter area for complex programs. Analyze legislation, review Congressional testimony/inquiries and apply risk analysis techniques to delicate policy issues and challenges. Support planning activities for public health studies, and short-term activities to resolve technical issues. Provide subject matter expertise to development of guidance documents, exercises, training, concept of operations documents and response plans. Communicate technically complex topics for a variety of audiences, including senior government officials, including Chief Medical Officer. Requirements Masters or Doctorate-level degree in public health, medicine/veterinary medicine, environmental science or related field. 10 to 12 years of experience working in the public health field at the local, state or federal level with at least 5 years of experience in large public health programs in the areas of infectious disease monitoring and response, public health preparedness, surveillance, or environmental health. Previous experience in veterinary medicine and health-security threats. Active Secret clearance and ability to obtain DHS Suitability.
