Job Description:
The Kasson laboratory is seeking an intrepid postdoctoral software scientist to help develop a new scientific software framework. This project is collaborative with the Jha, Turilli, Shirts, and Fichthorn groups and will provide a high-level API for adaptive ensemble computation. It synergizes with active domain-science projects in the Kasson group on protein conformational ensembles as well as software development on the Gromacs molecular simulation package in the Kasson group and for ensemble runtime tools in the Jha and Turrili groups. Prior scientific contributions to molecular simulation projects as well as software engineering skills are desired. If you want to create exciting software to enable new molecular science methods.
Postdoctoral employment is temporary and is normally limited to an individual who has been awarded a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate within the previous five years1 and who will be involved in full-time research or scholarship at the University. Employment as a Postdoctoral Research Associate is viewed as training and is preparatory for a full-time academic or research career, is supervised by a senior scholar, and allows the appointee to publish the results of his/her research or scholarship during the training period.

Familiarity with modern open-source software engineering practices and tools (github, continuous integration, etc).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require walking some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
