Responsibilities
OBXtek is recruiting for a Virtualization Engineer to support our Social Security Administration client's VMware infrastructure.
Responsibilities include:
Configure, implement and support VMWare ESXi 6.5 and higher. Configure, implement and support Microsoft Windows 2012 (and higher) servers. Design, implement and manage distributed (multi-location), multi-cluster virtual environments. Configure, implement and support third-party monitoring solutions in a virtual environment. Use SAN (storage area network) technology for data storage in an enterprise virtualization infrastructure. Design, deploy and maintain distributed switching technology in a virtual environment. Automate Microsoft Windows administrative functions when necessary. Participate in problem management reporting, resolution and documentation in ticketing system. Develop configuration and procedural documentation. Lead/Manage special projects. Create and maintain virtual templates in correlation with agency\u2019s standard server image. Communicate technical procedures and processes to non-technical users. Work with teams, vendors and consultants to determine strategy for complex system changes, upgrades and implementations. Formulate conclusions about the state of the virtualization environment using third party reporting tools. Develop methodologies and practices to manage and plan system capacity based on projected growth rate to ensure that system performance remains at acceptable levels. Maintain software versions of the host infrastructure servers to the latest production levels keeping compliant with the agency\u2019s security requirements and standards. Develop and execute high availability, disaster recovery and failover technology as they pertain to a virtual environment.
Qualifications
Requires minimum of 10 years technically related experience including the following:
Experience with VMware Cloud Infrastructure products such as ESXi, Virtual Center, vRealize Operations, vRealize Log Insight, vSAN, vRealize Automation. Infrastructure Technologies such as VMware Hypervisor, EMC SAN, Dell PowerEdge Servers, VMware vSphere features including DRS and Storage DRS, Distributed vSwitch, Update Manager, Fault Tolerance, and HA (High Availability), PowerShell/ PowerCLI. Experience with backups and disaster recovery technologies specifically in regard to virtual environments. Knowledge of networking technologies that are used in virtual environment.
Note: Will participate in rotating on call schedule. Should also expect occasional off hours or weekend scheduled work
