Gunnison is seeking energetic and dedicated Senior UX/UI Designer who will help shape and deliver our core design processes, standards, and toolkits that enable thoughtful product development and innovation across client's product lines. The Senior UX/UI Designer is passionate about making technology and data intuitive and meaningful through user research, information architecture, and prototyping in support of a civilian government agency client.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Design in systems - Understand how design systems are built. Know when to follow and when to break established interaction patterns. Champion consistency, flexibility, and reuse
Clarity Simplicity - Have a sense for clean design and are committed to creating elegantly simple user experiences from otherwise complex workflows
Design Thinking - Have strong problem-solving roots with deep empathy for the user. Help the team take on the toughest challenges with insightful solutions.
Eye on Delivery - Know enough about modern frameworks to communicate with engineers. Know how to get your designs to be well built before release.
Collaborator & Communicator - Proven ability to effectively interact and collaborate in a cross-discipline and creative team comprised of users, user experience designers, product managers, developers and executive leaders
Location: Suitland, MD Free Parking, Next to Metro. Teleworking opportunities. Due to COVID-19, all work will be performed remotely until further notice

Senior UX/UI Designer

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Foster an environment where the team uses human-centered design thinking methods and continuous improvement to iterate through concepts that can be tested and validated with users.
Lead design discussions and workshops with key stakeholders.
Collaborate with business partners, UXD practitioners, and technologists to map and visualize ideas with customer journey maps, wireframes, user flow diagrams, prototypes, and other interactive designs
Drive collaboration and co-creation across multiple business areas to deliver experience concepts that are desirable to the customer, feasible for the organization, and viable for the business
Utilize human-centered?design thinking methods to design and envision future experiences iteratively in a dynamic environment
Drive synthesis and insight generation, with an emphasis on collaboration and group facilitation
Participate in the estimation process
Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into day to day activities
Collaborate with UI/UX designers to match visual design intent
Maintain, expand, and scale existing web assets and design systems
REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's Degree in CS, IST or a related field of study
Ability to pass a US Government Background investigation (national agency check, Secret or TS not required).
5+ years of experience designing responsive web apps, websites and design systems
Experienced / familiar with web and mobile technologies such that you can communicate with engineers
Experience in the design and documentation of complex interfaces with a thorough understanding of modern web technologies
Strong understanding of UI, cross-browser compatibility, general web functions and standards
Expertise in modern visual and interactive product design
Highly creative, organized and detail-oriented
Passionate about delivering the best user experience possible
Ability to work independently
Familiar with interaction design & best practices for prototyping and communicating concepts using tools like Sketch and Invision
ADDITONAL SKILLS:

Deep understanding of product design, user experience, information hierarchy, user-flows, composition, layout, color and typography
Experience in data visualization
Excellent oral and written communication skills, and able to present to small and large groups of people
Online portfolio demonstrating broad skills, versatile aesthetic, high-end customer facing experiences, with expertise in design principles, thinking and usability
Experience with Agile Scrum Methodology
